The Dropshot Bugaloo Continues! Lake Barrett Largemouth Bass Fishing

Round two at Lake Barrett in East County San Diego did not disappoint! 🎣

After an incredible first trip chasing largemouth bass at Barrett, I knew I had to come back and see if I could find that same bite again. This time I hit the water from my Old Town Bigwater 132 PDL with the dropshot tied on and spent the day hunting for more San Diego largemouth bass.

The dropshot bite was still producing, and I ended the day with around 13 bass in the kayak! Most of the fish came on a Roboworm, proving once again that keeping things simple and sticking with a proven technique can put fish in the boat.

I also got the chance to test out the NEW Berkley Labs worm thanks to DaveThaAngler. While it didn’t last the entire day, I was able to put a few bass in the kayak with it before it got ripped off, making it a fun addition to the trip and another bait I’ll be keeping an eye on.

Lake Barrett has quickly become one of my favorite bass fisheries in Southern California, and this trip was another reminder why. From finding the pattern to exploring new baits, every trip teaches you something new.
