  1. As I have said many times, the sport of bass fishing owes a debt of gratitude to Irwin Jacobs. He changed it for the better. Agree on you Andy comments, he is one of my heroes, and lives just up the road from me.

  2. Our sport peaked back in the early 2000s. I love it and don’t want to see it going away but I’m really glad I picked oil and gas as my current career. Maybe one day if it’s good I’ll put my money up but for now I’ll just enjoy fishing.

  3. There is a whole argument to be made (and it's like a 'Bass After Dark' topic when I think about it), about what a competitive fishing tournament ought to be about. And how that has meant different things to different folks, over decades.

  4. I have been fishing for more than 65 years and there is absolutely NOTHING going on with these alleged professional anglers that is going to have any effect on my fishing as john doe citizen. This is simply a bunch of greedy people going through another money grab.

  5. I think most people felt that Scott Martin didn’t want to be in his father’s shadow. I think that was a contributing factor. The industry knew they couldn’t compete with Walmart and the money is always a big factor.

  6. Funny to me how people still think KVD is the best fisherman ever. If you ask him, he'll tell you he's not, and not bc he's humble. He's not that stupid. The fact that he enjoys being in that light is sickening and douchy. Ask me what he is. People are so stupid, but they want to tell you they're smarter than you. Blows my fooking mind everytime. My IQs drop significantly talking to people.

  7. Over 99% of fishermen don't care for tournament fishing or the guys. Glad Backlash Pod said this. I was getting tired of it, then DREAM Asian dude came to say it…he said 90%, but I want to try clickbaity sh*t. Pro fishing is not fishing. It is a racket.

  8. It's all about suckering you in it is all about money l have a nitro and l have a 14 foot Jon boat me and my boy have more fun with the 14 foot Jon then nitro and we catch more fish with the 14 footer 50.000 or 1.400i it is ashame it is about money instead of fun and memories

  9. It’s funny that you shared this because you’re correct. When I was getting into fishing you immediately get pushed towards Bass. This was 6 years ago, FLW was on its way out. I always wondered why Scott was on FLW but knowing his success makes sense. People are going to argue and say Scott is the most known angler and yes he is now because of his exceptional social media platforms and his fishing show.

  10. Pro bass fishing used to be a career..a business….Today, it's just a bunch of people in overpriced boats with 6 computer screens with the winner being the angler that's lucky enough to idle over the most/quality fish…..the way the sport of bass fishing has changed is almost unbelievable…Unfortunately, it's changed NOT for the better…p.s. was just reading a March 2001 Bassmaster mag for the heck of it…"Tools For Finding Fish" page 20..Randy's the angler highlighted for the article…..Pretty skinny at that time Randy 🤣

  11. That's always the risk you run when you hop aboard something new, like FLW had been.
I'm sure there were some 'Heavies' in the industry (no need to name names, we know who they are/ were) who leaned-in a little & shook their fingers.
Similar situation now w/ BASS & MLF. . . . . that ship is taking on water and some of the crew is jumping ship.
A little different situation now w/ the internet . . . so everyone is trying to be 'PC' & hang on to what they got in terms of sponsorship.

Sometimes the grass is greener on the other side . . . because it's fake.
