There is an old saying “If everybody is thinking the same then nobody is thinking very much.”
It’s ok not to think like everybody else when bass fishing because that leads to new ideas.
Bass fishing is not a sport. It is a competition. No running, throwing, lifting or exertion is needed. If you can compete on a level "playing field" as a senior citizen with teenagers it is not a sport. If you can be just as good at 350lbs as someone who is 120lbs, it is not a sport. if you can sit in a chair and do it, it is not a sport. If you can do it drunk just as easily as you could if you were sober, it is not a sport. What has happened to men? It can be tough to catch fish sometimes and some people are better at it than others. Some want to compete to see who may be the best. It is not a sport. Please leave your feminine side in the house with your wife. If fish is a sport, then chess, checkers, poker, crossword puzzles, solving Rubik's cubes, knitting pottery et al are sports. A "custodial engineer" is still a janitor. A corrections officer is a prison guard. Fishing is just a competition. Why can't that just be enough. You may or may not be an athlete in your regular life, but on the water, you are just a fisherman.
The bass need to remain a mystery ? Sorry, I've been working at it all year to master the minnow on livescope. I've watched 100s of fish turn away from my bait. I kept at it, worked on my cast accuracy, my pace and retrieves. Now I finally had success getting them to bite. I will not go backwards. Bass fishing the most difficult sport? Sorry, A 250lb defender knocking the crap out of you while you try and catch a football in the end zone is the hardest sport in the world. I wont even discuss this with you.
Is fishing/ hunting a true sport? A lot of mechanical and electronics, and depending on participation of another creature….I think fishing/ hunting is it's own thing, and I'm fine with that.
I agree Randy. This is your best tip ever! Thought provoking advice and maybe what keeps me addicted to chasing bass.
SIR RANDALL HAS OVER 50 YEARS OF ADVICE OF EXPERIENCE AND TIME ON THE WATER ?, HE HAS BEEN THERE AND DONE THAT, LISTEN AND LEARN
G a y
Randy is out of ideas and just trying to clickbait lmao
What I did was brainstorm what can I do to sidestep time on the water and do what most anglers won't do. Fish places most anglers will not want to access. The best tip I learned was from the biggest cheater in bass fishing, Mr Mike Long. When fishing plastic worms or jigs I pull the line away from the rod by hand at a snails pace. Thank you Mike!
Yeah you just go fishing
Definitely enjoyed this one.. great advice
in what I (k)now recognize as a natural progression…Freudian slip?
I went from wanting to catch one bass…to wanting to catch a lot of bass…to wanting to catch one big bass…to wanting to catch lots of big bass…and finally…after fishing for over seven decades…to feeling like I had caught my share and catching any more would be fruitless… in what I know recognize as a natural progression .
