The BEST Way to Catch HOT Summer Bass (Summer Froggin’)

Frog fishing is my FAVORITE way to catch bass. The HOT summer months bring a lot of scum, grass, and vegetation. The frog is an amazing way to tackle that type of cover when the temps are high!

  1. I still haven't tried braided line, or fluorocarbon! I've always used mono and most of my tackle is old school. Not sure how they would handle braid.

  2. Really agree about throwing new types of baits. I got spring figured out and got really confident with a paddletail on an underspin jig and craw style on a Texas rig. Now those aren’t working so I’ve made a challenge of rigging three new baits up and using those to try and get a fish. The goal is to get a fish on each new bait and I usually try to throw baits I don’t have a lot of confidence throwing. Today was a lipless, Chatterbait, and frog (yes I’ve never really much success with a frog) got a small bass on the lipless, a few strikes on the Chatterbait but it shook the hook and still 0-fer on the frog. Great video and congrats on the 2lbers!

  3. Love frog fishing and finally got a rod that works well for me , I'm using a 7'6" Duckett Incite extra heavy and it upped my confidence in throwing into heavy mucky flats on Guntersville ✌️

  4. Hey Debo, that’s one of the things about fishing that I love. Sure everyone has their confidence lures, but there is a great big world out there full of so many different way to fish & new things to try. Don’t limit yourselves & stay open minded. Most of all have fun👊

  5. Awesome froggin content. Been working on developing confidence in other lures and baits as Wendel fishing said have an unconfidence lure tired on until you learn it and it becomes a confidence lure.

  6. Hooks sets after youtube debo hold my beer I'm going to almost throw 2 people out of the boat. Does that revo have a special angle on the front for your finger?

  7. Good stuff man I gotta say I’ve been workin a frog but can’t seem to hook em; thought I was pulling too quickly then had one spit it out waiting too long gotta keep at it but tough when they’re beatin each other down trying to get at the loon 110 whopper plopper

  8. Thanks for the time put in on these videos Devon, has to be a grind at times to get 2-3 videos put out, hold a Saturday Night Live, and hold down a full time job, as well as being a father and husband. you da man ! we appreciate it.

  9. Debo, do you use the same knot for frogs as you do everything else or do you use lure specific knots? I know i use a double palomar with frogs and poppers, then ill use a improved cinch for swim jigs and texas rigs.

  10. Hey, Debo's! Went fishing early this morning. No wind! Using a Poppin Frog. Bent the hooks out a little. Just in case my P B came along. Fished it for a hour. Two missed hits. No bass. Wil keep trying! The Wopper Plopper is still my best topwater. Next to the Twin bladed Buzzbait. I twitch the frog around wood, grass and cattails. Stop and pause, twitch and twitch and stop. Nothing.! Help! I know you have about 10 topwater videos. All kinds of topwater lures. I sucked at jigs. Till my baitcaster reel bird nested. Then bam! A 4 pounder. Maybe I should not pay attention to the frog and just wait for the splash. Am I trying to hard? Love to watch you having fun Frogging! Your videos help the average Joe fisherman get better. Trying the StrikeKing Hybrid Hunter Jr. It just put bass on the line this morning. Also trying The River to Sea 120 glide bait. Practicing on the retrieve for hours. Bone color with red marker blood look. It may become a great bait too. Been watching from Indiana since you put out the video on how to cast a baitcaster. Many years ago! Shawn.

  11. I can't say how much I love when the frog bite is on, and that layer of matted vegetation is prime froggin real-estate. That Suffix 832 is my favorite braid.

  12. The video I've been waiting for!!! Love some frog feeshin. I'd agree about the gear videos. Those are some of my favorite. Great video fella!!
