When is the best time for topwater bass fishing? Now is the best time for topwater fishing. We are already into June, and this a great time to test out a topwater popper. I don’t seem to be getting bites on any soft plastics right now, and that is why I made the switch. I catch three largemouth bass on the topwatter lure tonight! Three different sized bass went for it, so it’s appealing to most shallow water bass. The top water popper is easy for a beginner to get started with, but difficult to master.
