  1. The Tatula sv has been my favorite so far. But I do agree this slx is really good. I'm a kayak fisherman and one con. I guess I can say is that it's not very forgiving when I have to do an awkward cast. That tends to give me a backlash

  2. I really wish they'd come out with a 200 and 300 series in the SLX… I use mostly the Curado and Curado with the MGL spool in it but I like to keep a few extra reels with different size line or in different gear ratios in my boat so I can make a change if I need to wothout having to respool. I've used a SLX150 on one of my punching rods just to see if it would hold up to 60lb braid and a 7'9" extra heavy extra fast and it's lasted 2 years which is kind of impressive so I bought a few more but would love to have a few in a bigger size… Come on Shimano make it happen!!!

  3. I have the older 70, and I like it. Haven't put in enough time to really give it the beans, but it throws hard plastics lures really well, especially in the wind. It does feel a touch small in the hand, but that's irrelevant. I did put a longer handle on it after I upgraded on the slx dc I used it for the 70, then it's perfect.

  4. Its a really nice reel, First time I tried mine, I put one breake on, on the spool and had a hard time not backlashing, two breakes on and up to three, then it was better, so centrifugal only is not for first time baitcaster people, thats my 10C. My Daiwas (Tatula and Alphas) is just so much moore forgiving casting, in windy condition, I put away my SLX and put on one of my Daiwas. But, regardless I love the little SLX, Its always with me on my fishing trips. It feels really solid in hand and the feeling of quality is stellar for a "budget" Shimano. Happy Fishing!

  5. Couldn’t agree with you more the whole slx lineup you can not go wrong with I recommend it to everyone specially if it’s their first baitcaster. I haven’t tried the new one but even the xt is right there at the top

  6. Love my old version MGL 70, that and the Tatula 80. Bummed they don’t offer the US a 5 or 6 gear speed. I’d like to eventually get another, one w mono for topwater & another with fluoro.

  7. The smoothest Reel I’ve ever owned was the basic SLX and it was jacked out of my Truck lol but I’m hoping to get another one next year. The 70 looks perfect though.

  8. Just got a Shimano Metanium DC reel and wow, absolutely love it!!
I am always here supporting you 😉 I want a shout out! <# much love, one of my favorite YouTubers! For real, though, Luv ya man keep the videos coming!

  9. love it, got the last gen for $100 shipped a month ago from japan. Unreal value! I have it paired it with a M Tatula xt and pretty much all my treble hook lures get thrown on it now. Tried a light weight rooster tail for fun on the 1st cast and couldn't believe the distance I got on it.

  10. Such a great reel. It’s on my 6’10” do all 12 to 14 lb line rod. I throw everything on it. Finesse jigs, underspins, chatterbaits, lipless etc. I love the ease of casting for pitching. Barely need to flick the wrist to get the lure going.

  11. Hey Debo, great review man! Another thing I do like about the shallow spool is that you don’t have to fiddle around with putting backing on them & yes I agree small reel handles suck 👊

  12. Thanks for the review sir. I've heard that is a good reel, while others say that the slx xt is the best slx reel. Personally, I love my slx dc. It casts a country mile, and of course the back lash issue is minimized. Can't say it goes away completely. ✌

  13. I prefer the SLX 70 over the Curado MGL 150. I have several Daiwa reels like the older Daiwa Tatula SV 100’s (2020), the new Tatula SV 100. One Daiwa I have I really like is the Tatula 70 and I don’t see many reviews on it. When I am bank fishing just slinging the lures I prefer the Shimano’s. Fishing in a boat or casting in the wind I prefer the Daiwa. I’m personally more accurate with the Daiwas and they are way less finicky.

  14. Hey Debo.. another Great video !! I got my first Shimano this past summer !! Picked a 19 Scorpion MGL 151 from Japan, cheaper ($128) than a Curado and more bearings (7+1) than the SLX. Because of the 150 size spool, I only loaded it halfway with 10# mono, (looking for a 70 size spool) I am totally blown away at how well it casts light lures (3 grams & up), put it on a 6' 10" Fenwick Techna PX med/light/fast rod (Killer Combo !!) having quite a few Daiwa's , I may have to p/u another Shimano just for fun !! the SLX is intriguing me !! Keep up the great work Brother !!
