I had vowed to fish more hard baits this year but as time has moved on i've "regressed" back to my trusty old texas rig worm.
Biggest issue I have bass fishing is I try fishing too fast. Last time I was out, I purposely slowed down, slowed way way down. I was fishing a ring worm on a Texas rig with no weight. The drop was super slow and I let it go to bottom. Took long pauses, gave it short twitches, long pause. The method really produced and I was out doing others I was with. Need to discipline myself to slow down.
What size hook do you use when you throw an ol' monster? Everytime I rig one up my hook always looks too small
Where did you buy your boat
This year is my first time getting serious about fishing. I crushed spring time but summer time presents a ton of problems like low tides and ton's of mats.
Just working banks and points with Tx rigged worms in 2-25 feet has worked well for me for decades.
I like your videos BUT here in Arizona we DON'T have all the cover that you talk about. Best we can hope for is some rock piles..
My husband laughs at me because the whole back of our boat is full of anything to do with Texas rigs..lol
What would you recommend for a pond with two foot visibility and submerged vegetation?
Give me a 7” berkley powerbait ribbon tail Texas rigged and I’ll be happy!
I absolutely love throwing a Texas rig. I’ve got a Tatula + Tournament Pro specifically for a Texas rig. One of my favorite combos.
Thanks, Tyler. I have a basic but important question… And some readers will probably roll their eyes I am proficient at using 2D, down imaging or side imaging to find brushpiles, but I have trouble translating from the image of the brushpiles to actually casting to it. I know do drop a waypoint , set a casting ring, and cast to it but, I'm never confident I'm hitting it, unless I am just dropping and fishing vertically. Ideas?
Glad I got to run into you Saturday morning at the boat ramp! Thanks for taking the time to say Hi. Man it was a tough one out there that day though.
Broke off a 5-6 pounder this morning here in SW, Ohio about 30 minutes before my work shift in a pond I fish. Using a Berkley Powerbait 5" General in blue/black with the bright blue tail wacky rigged. I was 6-7 feet from the bank and had just lifted it and started to reel down and saw the big greenish/white side of it come out of nowhere and engulf it. I short set the hook and had it on for 8-10 seconds and was going to back off the drag on my Nasci and snap. I'm still depressed 10 hours later.
Caught two fatties at the spill way today on the zoom horny toad. Lost three or four more, all in the 4-5 pound range. Even with slack water. Just had it rigged weightless.
