So…isn't this the same as a normal texas rig with a sliding bullet weight?
Idk why I am sharing this but oh well. You can put a swivel about 4-6” above the bait and have your sinker above that swivel. It still fishes about the same except for the last bit of the fall. The weight hits and that extra slack let’s the bait kinda level out in a natural way. I get bit a ton in that moment from sinker hitting bottom and the bait. It’s basically a Carolina rig but you can fish it vertically or horizontally
What lake are you fishing on. it looks like a desert lake
Great video! How do you retrieve this rig brother? Do you pop pop pause or quick lift then twitch?
Please anyone feel free to educate me but how much different can the action of this rig differ from a Carolina rigged soft plastic?
I understand theres no swivel to stop the weight from traveling to the hook but the action has to be alot like a Carolina rig
Bait! Everything is bait! 😆🤣
Glen I think that is going to be one of those rigs that catches them all the time. Just because of the speed change and the moment change. Thanks for the good video Glenn.
If I'm looking for those type of weights what are they called and where do I find them?
Wonderful video Glenn ! Got a question regarding the slack in line, and how would you know if the fish is biting? Once the sinker hit bottom, do you start reeling in the slack? But there is always slack in the line as we wait for the bait to drop, so how do you know if the fish is biting ? Thanks
Senkos work well on a free rig all through summer for picky bass.
I have done this for years while fishing my river…usually with a night crawler
Hey Glenn that was a really good video you always go into great detail about what you're explaining about and that's what I like about your channel you don't leave anything out. Thanks for the time you spend making these videos so we can become better anglers. I really appreciate you and your wife Glenn you guys seem like such great people. God bless you and your family. Ps tight lines always.
I like your channel, to be honest in Mn for decades walleye fisherman have been using that setup, we call it LINDY RIG. using leeches or crawlers, have you heard of it . Very Popular
Thanks ill try this in Sweden!
This is like the Tokyo rigs cousin
I never saw what size weight when using baitcaster?
Quick question on the free rig. After the weight hits the bottom, and then the lure falls slowly and eventually hits the bottom, do I just pop the rod tip up a few times and reel up the slack a bit to work the rig back to the boat? Seems to be a slack line presentation. I've been using the free rig for the last few times I've gone out. Love this rig (have it on a BFS setup and on a conventional baitcast setup), but working it on the retrieve is where I'm struggling.
Thanks
As usual Glenn I love your videos . . . quick question is this a rig that will work for us fishing from shore?
