Texas Rig WORM Fishing will NEVER Be the Same After This

Is this the end of the traditional stick worm? In this video, we put the Geecrack Bellows Gill — a popular JDM soft plastic that’s been crushing it in tournament bass fishing — up against the classic Texas-rigged Senko to see which one really catches more fish. You’ll see how this ribbed, creature-style worm performs around heavy cover, in pressured water, and why some anglers are calling it a game changer for Texas rig fishing. If you’re looking to upgrade your worm fishing game, get more bites, and catch bigger bass this spring, this is a must-watch. 1. Mustad ewg 4/0 grip pin hook is great for keeping the bait in place. I also like to cut the ribs my ewg hook lays over so the hook naturally buries into the bait. More fish less baits is the 🔑 🎣

  2. Hey Mikey what made you move from Florida to where you are now ? I have wondered about that because so many people love fishing Florida because there’s so many places to fish so I was wondering if it was because of a fishing thing or person type thing.

  3. I'm surprised these haven't caught on more! These are one of my secret weapons 🤫. I rig them with a 5/0 Trokar Flippin hook; that trokar hook point gets thru the plastic on those better than any other hook I've tried

  4. My favorite way to fish the bellows shad is with a Geecrack Neko hack, which is a little plastic spear that goes through the bait. You can rig it either Neko or Wacky style using it. Better hook up ratio, although more prone to hanging it up since the hook is outside the bait. I use a VMC weedless Neko hook. I put a nail weight in the nose use a little glue to make sure the weight stays buried in the bait.

  5. A bass isnt that smart that itll distinguish this from a worm or lizard or jig dragged on the bottom. No doubt it works but just more bs to waste your money on from the fishing industry

  6. Saw this somewhere before but cant remember where….use an owner haymaker 3/0 and put a couple of dabs of super glue where the bait slides up on the bait keeper at eye of the hook. It really does make a difference. Your bait will still slide down but it delays it enough that the hook comes thru before it moves up top. Another option is to use a grip pin hook like the mustad…although it doesnt have the offset hook point like the haymaker.

  7. Mikey: I heard this and followed it with success for what it’s worth: was told for best action, you don’t want hook to exceed the point where the bait begins to narrow again. (Body shape narrow wide narrow if that makes sense?) so bellow Shad, try 3/0. Bigger bellow, bigger hook. I also was throwing mine on a falcon 7’3 H. So maybe it is just the rod? Also try on a free rig sometime! Hope this helps and tight lines brother!

  8. Throw a Bellows Gill on a 6th sense divine swim bait jig head. I used the 1/4 oz 5/0 version. They have a super wide gap that wil clear the body and a screw lock. Flip it drag it swim it whatever. Landed a seven pounder on monday off of this and multiple males in the 2-3 lb range

  9. Just a thought to the bait bunching up issue. I've never used one of these baits, but what if you trim the fins from the bottom of the bait, from the front to about midway. Then use a wide gap hood to sort of Texas rig the bait so the hook comes out of the solid body and the point sits against the fins on top. If you use a hook with a keeper near the eye, that should hopefully keep the bait from bunching up.

  10. I commented this last time you fished these but Fusion19 Screwlock swimbait hook is what I use. 5-0 for the size it looked like you were fishing. Still weedless, doesn’t tear the baits up and I have no issue with hookups.

  11. Great baits. I catch tons of good bass on a Green Pumpkin Bellows Gill either Texas Rigged or on a VMC Rugby Jig. But I'm not looking forward to paying 25 bucks a pack in the near future because of you know who.

  12. Thanks for the vid Mikey! I’ve got the bellows for a few years and really only started using the smaller ones 2.8’s” last year. So try the Gamakatsu Heavy cover finesse strait shank hooks w the Bellows. Think a 3/0 or 4/0 should be good for those size bellow if you’re using the 3.8”ers. I have success w the strait shanks and really almost any plastic. I’ll use the D-Bombs a lot with it too. And my hook up ratio is really solid. I do like the bellows and those Bellows sticks could be deadly on a C-Rig as well.
