My Profile:
http://www.mattstefanfishing.com/
I was born and raised in Chicago, but after working 12 years in the financial Industry regulating the futures and options markets at the CME/CBOT I decided to pursue my passion fishing professional tournaments and left my full time corporate job. At that point, I moved to Junction City, WI with my wife Sara and two boys Hank and Duke. I’ve been fishing professionally since 2011 and full-time since 2015. I’ve qualified for seven MLF Championships and won over a half million in tournament winnings at the professional level.
another good option is the Owner short shank 35MF with 105-105-150 degree angle hook point

That tip also works om crankbaits.
So when more and more people are realizing that 3-pronged treble hooks (and double/triple treble) are doing more damage to the fish, some are deciding, "heh, I'll put more hooks on the lure."
When replacing a treble, have you experimented placing the single hook forward versus the double facing forward?
One hook of a quad will always point at the belly. I think the better catch rate is due to two hooks sticking out perpendicular.
I bet quads would be great on spinners for trout.
I fish a 8” Huddleston in trout color because the main forage for the big largemouths on my lake is trout. The Huddleston comes with no hooks. What works best for me is to attach a large frog hook on top at the front eye with a split ring. It reminds me of a deers rack sticking up but you can swim it through a big lay down because there is no hooks on the bottom and the frog hook gets them in the roof of the mouth. The big largemouths live in the biggest lay down that extends farthest out in the lake.
Im not i big swimsuit kind of guy and I know im missing out on some big fun, but this simple tip seems so obvious I dont know why I didnt use it before, I can be slow sometimes. Thanks for showing this to all of us!
Quadruple hook?
everyone go watch Matt over at Bass Talk Live. He's been on there before too so check out the older video as well.
Geez, now I won't sleep tonight. the question I will be running through my mind is if it has 4 prongs is it really a treble? Damn you! lol
Lake Fork in late May…..
Lee Livesay
and I think Chris Zaldain because he’s not afraid to throw huge baits all day. It’s his favorite place to fish. The water is very low because they worked on the dam. Off shore fish and it will take 100 pounds.
Is that a 6" Savage Trout ?
I really like those savage gear swim baits and that's a great idea to use the 4 prong quad hooks.
I only have a few BIG swimbaits and I haven't even been able to throw them yet(stupid back) but I really see the logic in this and if I am going to chuck them BIG things and possibly hook something, I definitely want to land it! Thanks for this
Good tip, I like it. Thanks.
I believe here in Washington state you can only use single point, double point, and or a treble hook and no bait can have more then 3 hooks total.
thumbnail swimbait was my first one…still have it.
That's one of those where you're like – "That's obvious! Why don't they come that way when you buy them?"
That would be a great hook to use to clean out the eyelet of the Matt Stephan guppy head that he personally fills in with paint on every single one sold
I know these videos have made me a better fish catcher . Saw that live this morning Mental and stressful .Made me think my comment the other day was not exactly appropriate .I apologize.
Don't see any lake breakdowns for Washington state.
Thanks Matt!
Nice mod. Thanks for the vid
The decoys have been my replacement swimbait hooks for quite awhile, now. If you are heavily invested in a specific hook, I’ve added small magnets to some soft Swimbaits to get the same effect.
Great show this morning Matt. That catch and release concept is something I need. The key is to recognize it quickly and get it out. Really good life lesson. Thanks again

Nice segment on BTL today Matt.
Do you think it would be an advantage to make the switch for everything or is there a reason you wouldn't use it on like a topwater
Wouldn't a 4-prong Treble hook be a Quadle hook?
I wish one of the companies at TW would make that savage gear swimbait in a 4 or 4.5 inch bait , a Huddleston type bait with that tail and in poured rigging , I think it would sell sell too
Whoo hooo bro , your Guppy head from Dirty jigs , your jig head is a best seller at TW , love that jig head too , congrats
No magnets
What do you think about the Sebile magic swimmer? Primarily on Murray with bluebacks thanks brother
Definitely good tip. I replace the treble hooks on my magdrafts with quad hooks or if I'm removed harness from 8" baits & put a weighted swimbait hook. Then I'll add a stinger quad hook on top if I'm not fish it in heavy cover
Great tip will have to get some thanks
Not related to video. sent you a face book message about a rod repair question. your last video on this subject was a while ago and didnt know if you would see it. I could really use some advice.
These ‘trebles ‘ are called “ Quads “ (4). Obvious why they are called 4
Great video Matt. I enjoy throwing bigger swim baits and I never thought about this. Definitely will be picking up some.
Good one, Matt
