I was born and raised in Chicago, but after working 12 years in the financial Industry regulating the futures and options markets at the CME/CBOT I decided to pursue my passion fishing professional tournaments and left my full time corporate job. At that point, I moved to Junction City, WI with my wife Sara and two boys Hank and Duke. I’ve been fishing professionally since 2011 and full-time since 2015. I’ve qualified for six MLF Championships and won roughly a half million in tournament winnings at the professional level.

  1. I cut a rectangular piece from a plastic sheet. Punch a hole in the middle. Cut on opposite sides, on either side of the hole. Bend the flaps down. The square corners should create more noise than figure 8 props.

I have some bass-sized trout spinners and am considering replacing the treble hooks with worm hooks.

  2. Great hack, hadn't thought of building my own. Also I like the use of shrink tubing, the fly tier in me has always defaulted to building up the shank with 3/0 thread and a using modified staple as a keeper.

  3. Easy to do on any jighead. Cut the lead away. You don't need cup washers. Just thread or bead w/thread. Hook keeper jigheads are unnecessary. Propeller don't need that much tightness. It will spin better loose. Good way you have. I just think it's too much. All in all, spinheads are unnecessary to me.

  4. So is there a benefit to using these over the Megabass Okashira heads that already come like this? Price? I mean i assume you knew these were available so I have to think you went through the trouble of making your own for some reason. Thanks Matt- no idea you were behind the Guppy heads man- I use those frequently and have for a couple seasons now- best small swim bait head on the market imo. In fact it's the only one I've ever found- besides the plain Okashira heads- that will fit a 2.8 perfectly. Good job man, very well done.

  5. Matt, I don’t have any spotted or smallmouth around here, but I do fish lots of tannic rivers and currently Santee Cooper is very muddy. Do you find this being a difference maker with largemouth?

  6. Matt…..so glad I came across your channel. Just subscribed. Nothing but great info you have!! Now I have to binge watch….haha…thank you for sharing all your tips and experience!! Looking forward to more!!

  7. Might have to try that, I don’t do much with swim baits, just can’t seem to get them to work, maybe this will help.

I notice you mention Dirty Jigs a good bit in your vids, I use their skirted jigs a ton and really have enjoyed quite a bit of success with their products, great content, I am enjoying the channel man !!
