Swimbait, Buzzbait, or Crankbait – What do the bass want?

Can YouTube help me become a better fisherman? In this episode I try three different baits to see what the bass want. I am still fishing with the KastKing baitcaster. I try a jointed swimbait, a buzzbait, and a squarebill crankbait. I land one small bass and I lose one also. I end up chatting with a local who approaches me to ask about fishing in the area.

  1. That chuckle when the shad jumped on the pier has got to be the most realistic moment in the video. As always, great vid…well maybe not "always," let's keep it realistic.

  2. When I go out to drop a line in the water, it's usually to get away from people, to get that much needed alone time. Peace and quiet, with the occasional fish. Almost every time I go out, some random, weird, creepy guy/gal comes up and starts some awkward, intrusive conversation and will not go away. The whole time they are talking, I'm thinking to myself "I don't care. Go away. Why me?" They then continue to look over my gear/tackle. Makes you feel like you're getting searched and interrogated. Drives me bonkers! Thanks for the video brother.

  3. Really appreciate you showing the number of casts it often takes to get a strike. With other fishing shows it looks like every 3 or 4 casts they catch a fish. I have yet to see anyone that doesn't get professional overrun or more commonly called backlashes.

  4. Great video!!!! I have the same shad swimbait and I never have any luck on it even though I know they are eating shad where I fish jigs and crankbaits seem to work the best for me

  5. I had a chatty gentlemen come up to me yesterday while I was trying to make that new pond video at the park. They mean no harm but it is a real distraction when you are fighting wind like I was. I went to answer a question he ask and got the biggest backlash of the day. He then ask me if baitcasters got tangled like that all the time. It was so bad I had to cut the line. What I didn't tell him was, that was my first backlash all day and it ended up being my last one. In fact I had not ever had one on the new Ardent reel before. Oh well the joys of bank fishing in a public park. 😜

  6. When they're pushing shad like that, a good thing to try is a spook or fluke or casting spoon. With the spook cast just past the Blowup and work it through. The fluke right in it and work it real slow. Senkos too.

  7. Cool video man!!! I was trying some type of jig bait today, I was using it for about 5 hours I got nothing with it. I've got a few other lures I'm going to try over the next couple of months. I've never caught anything on a lure I'm trying though. Your videos inspire me so keep them coming!!!!!
