  1. Hi Grant,
    Really well done video, congratulations!
My wife has been hinting at taking a trip to Portugal. If we could fit some fishing into it, she may get her wish lol!
What time of the year would you say is best for fishing for sea bass from shore?

  2. Great fishing, thanks for sharing such superb video footage …I got the fishing bug in Gabon (tarpon/threadfin/snapper etc…) moved to Portugal recently and after tasting Robalo (Sea Bass I believe) and enjoying the fantastic silver coast have finally got my fishing gear out again …all ready to snap em up…for the table ..I'm near Obidos lagoon …met some really nice local fishermen…some trying interesting techniques like dragging a little wooden skeg with a long line on it …7-9 hooks and they catch their dinner very successfully….but I like spinning …got to go get a tweak bait lure….are evenings less productive than early mornings?

  3. I’m now near albufeira. Brought a Travel rod and all my hardbaits- stickbaits, poppers etc. Tomorrow she allows me to fish a couple of hours starting at 05:00. Got my permit and now I’m thinking: where do I start? Beach, Pier, Docks or Rocks? Any tips are more than welcome!

  4. Magic video mate, and some lovely bass. That ''one last cast'' pays off again. I love my bass fishing but unfortunately they are not as big in numbers or size up here in Scotland. They just look like a proper fish should look like to me, fight for fun and never give up, Even when landed they'll stick out every sharpened spiky bit on their bodies. Cant wait for the coming months after the year from hell and get the new lure and reel rod out. 😉

  5. Just found your channel and loving it. Great that your getting the kids involved/on your side, I know that problem, the apples never fall far from the tree of your lucky !
3 years before I caught my first bass, hopelessly incompetent but passionate, I'm down south on the med, near Marseille. This winter will be different ! …… 😆
    👍

  6. Great stuff, but looks extremely dangerous, speaking from experience and I got trapped out at sea in Wales, had to swim back to shore with much of the tackle on my back with the helps of local kids in wet suits to carry the rest of the gear. Also been wash down the river in chest waders! Be careful!

  7. You are a brave man! I spent 40 years fishing for Atlantic Snook in Brazil in mangroves and off the beaches(Centrpomus undecimalis) also called Robalo…being near Guincho , I find these formations and these waters pretty scary and reecently 2 guys were taken by a large wave!!!

  8. This shows that experience and reading the sea is everything
    And you have big balls
Only the crazy perceives catchers can compete with you on that dangerous condition
    Cheers from a Portuguese.
You have good labrax beach Here in O Porto and Gaia.

  9. Hi, really liked the vids. Think you have caught more descent sized bass in one holiday than I have ever seen in all the time I have been bass fishing, so have ordered some of these lures.
Is it possible to give more of an idea of your set up as you were hauling up the rocks some big bass and on my set up I think the line would have snapped ? Info on rod, line, leader would be helpful even your shoes looked different to the ones normally seen wading.
Looking forward to trying the lures and keep the great vids coming.

  10. Spot on grounds. Absolutely love it. Fabulous country and terrain to fish. Spent much time in the canaries and Channel Islands after big bass with great success. Been to Portugal but never the west coast. Think I’m gonna make the pilgrimage. Dunno if you ever hook up with likeminded anglers. I’m a bit of a loner when it comes to my fishing purely as there are too many mouths that can’t keep closed when it comes to good fishing so fully understand if not. Enjoying the vids greatly, brings back vivid memories of big fish in similar waters so thank you. Would love to drop a livebait out there at dusk.
