Thanks John. You rock. Love the Florida videos. I know you concentrate on the eastern LI Sound, but do you think similar fish can be caught in similar conditions mid north shore, like the Sunken Meadow area and points a little west? I live in Westchester and really just started surf fishing this year and almost exclusively at Jones WE2. Trying to get techniques down rather than chase all the spots. Fall run schoolies were fun but kind of a no brainer when they were biting.
i had never had much luck with poppers. Replicated John's technique off Saltaire, NY dock at dusk on 27 May and got 5 blues in short order. Keeping the line in the fingers above the reel to avoid the looping matters. I stopped doing that and got tangles.

Can you fish a plug in very choppy water like a beach that has 3-5 ft waves maybe less
what plug do you use when there is too much sea weed on surface ?

Mr Skinner you are the man! Do you have any videos on setting up jigs, plugs, poppers? As well what size swivels, snaps do you use?
One more thing do use bait at all …you know clams, bunker, squid or your strictly lure fishing?
John, are you familiar with Jersey locations? I'll be in brigantine beach in the beginning of june and was curious if I can expect stripers around that time of year and what sorts of lores/baits they'd be hitting. Any info would be appreciated.
Oh yeah, what are the best wooden plugs? And what do you think about the TA lures?
John, why don't you just do single hooks? Long Island is where I should live.
how do you know where these fish are? do you spot bait popping on the top of the water or is it a known area where they hang out?

Hey john I just finished your book season on the edge it was very good and I'm probably getting fishing the bucktail book soon anyways do you have a line up of videos over the winter or you just waiting for spring to start uploading again becuse in the winter I want to catch fish but there is no fish to go fishing for so I watch your videos

Do you work the pencil popper shaking the rod with the butt of it between your legs or some other method?
Reminds me of my spring fishing trips on the Northeast River and Elk river this past spring. O ya near the flats that head to the dam.
hey John, watch all your video great work. i wanted to ask why do you cut off a foot on a 10' rod blank rather than just getting a 9'. Again great videos

I plan on getting similar equipment that you use and learn as much as I can in this off season. I just got my 9 FT Penn Prevail, tactical anglers clips, barrel swivels, and both of your books. I plan on using 30lb spider wire but I think I'm going to opt for 50lb mono for leader. Should I use a lower test for mono as leader?
Can't wait until the weather get's nicer to start practicing what I'm learning.
