  1. I fish lower Hudson river (George Washington Bridge to Liberty State Park) with blood worms, regular worms $14, jumbo worms $20. Also if you fishing straight into the river we use 6 or 8oz sinkers, 4 oz would not hold bottom.

  2. Thanks Big Joe!  Going fishing from the shore for the first time in the Upper Nyack region, any pointers?  I usually fish from a boat or go surf casting off the shores of Long Island.
    Thanks!

  3. I've found over time that fishing for stripers in the hudson can be very hit or miss. I guess it all comes down to finding out their habits.

The one day my friend who is an experienced fisherman told me to fish in the hudson on a certain day… all I did all day was catch BIG Stripers and some BIGGGGGG catfish.

  4. You need to find a buddy or a better place to fish. I guess a better place to fish is the most important thing, although If you really want to catch a certain fish, then u need to find someone that is good at catching those fish, study their habbits and why they go where they go

  5. You know my leader length depends alott on my hook choice. For instance if its circle hooks then always a long leader. I get so upset with guys yelling out set the hook lol. Given the design og hooks and a stripers mouth setting the hook is often done when fish swims away.

  6. I don't have good luck with striped bass the last two months 🙁 i don't know why….. I was using eels, blood worms, the best baits …and don't catch anything…just small striped bass
