Squarebill crankbaits will work throughout the country, especially during the Spring and spawn. My favorite is the Strike King KVD 1.5. I like to target spawning flats with grass or look for trees, laydowns, or stumps. I like to fish them with erratic action and vary my retrieval speeds and use a stop and go technique. Try one out this Spring and good luck fishing.

  1. do you start off with a smaller lure and then go the bigger one? I always find myself starting with larger jerkbaits or crankbaits and then if that doesn't work I go to smaller sized lures.
