During the spring you have a special time when many large bass are up shallow and can be caught a number of different ways. However, one of the best ways to cover water, catch a lot of bass, and catch some giant bass is with a spinnerbait.

Spinnerbaits are not a new lure but they seem to produce year end and year out in clear, stained and muddy water.

One of the best things that you can do with your spinnerbait is simply get that bait in the cover. So many anglers will spend too much time hitting the outskirts of the cover when most bass are positioned directly in it. Instead place your spinnerbait right in the cover and hold on.

  1. Less Regurgitated bass information and more casting and catching……..fyi 7.3:1 ratio ( 31 IPT ) is not the ideal ratio for an all around spinnerbait reel, somewhere in the 25 to 28 inches per turn a much better performing reel for an “ all around “ true spinnerbait set-up. Careful with the “ all around tag “ your 7’ rod / w 7.3 :1 reel is the proper tool for long casting/ burning a spinnerbait over flats etc..….Time on the water will show you, there are better options for a “ true all around spinnerbait set-up “. 2. I fish the banks in Southeast Louisiana and its been rough the last few weeks. I've been losing a lot of lures too but, thems the breaks when you fish the banks. Spinnerbaits have always and will always work down here so, we stay loaded up with them bad boys.

  3. Great info as always 🤛🏼 I would add 1 more thing that I’ve seen makes a difference in catching fish, the trailer itself. I switch them (size, type and color) until I find the one that makes the presentation more attractive to the bass. I switch back to another one and they don’t bite, I put it back and they bite….that’s how I know. Hope it helps someone out there. Big fan of your videos 👍🏼

  4. Have you ever had issues with the kicker blade not spinning? I swapped out to an orange #3 Colorado blade, and now it won't spin. I've messed around with the clevis to no success, and without the spin the action of the lure has been negatively impacted

  5. I used different spinnerbaits blades. Used different colors blades and skirts. I am a riverbank fisherman here in Fredericton New Brunswick. Fishing spinnerbaits cross current makes them lean to one side depending on the side of the river I am on. Most of the time I am casting up river, slowly reeling in. The river I fish the most is the Nashwaak river here in Fredericton. It has an island at the mouth of the river with a vehicle bridge crossing over the island from Devon to Barker Point. These are two districts of the city. Nashwaak river flows into the Saint John River here.
