Spring Bass Fishing Gear Review – Top New Baits and Rods For 2020!

A TON of awesome new baits and gear have already hit the market this Spring! Between the Bassmaster Classic and the start of prime fishing season across the south, the influx of new offerings is crazy! Today we’re wading through the new gear in search of the best of the best. We’ve tried a huge variety of baits and gear and compiled a short list of items that are worth taking a serious look at.

Today’s video is focused around baits and equipment that will have a tangible impact on your fishing. From the Hog Farmer Flex Rigs and their ability to draw drastically more strikes than stiffer rigs, to the Quiver worm’s ability to shake and shimmy unlike anything we’ve ever seen before, every item in today’s video has the ability to help you catch more fish. When it comes to rods, we looked at both ends of the spectrum.

Crankbait rods are one of the most difficult selections an angler can make because different sizes and styles of crankbaits require such different equipment to maximize their potential. The Intenza comes in at a budget-friendly price and is probably the most adaptable crankbait rod we’ve used to date. On the higher end of the gear spectrum, both the St. Croix and the Poison Adrena bring incredible sensitivity within reach, and the Twin Power delivers ultra high-end performance at a reduced price.

Below you’ll find a breakdown of all the equipment from today’s video in the order they appeared. We’ve included links that go directly to Tackle Warehouse where you can see the products in detail. For the baits, we’ve even included color recommendations and rigging advice. We hope you find this gear review helpful!

  1. Poison Adrena 6.11 M+ . How it works with jerkbaits ? And any sense to pay for it if my primary baits is Jerkbaits or maybe some other option with better price ? And do anyone know the Weight of the rod ? Thanks

  2. Iโ€™ve been a Spinning Rod user all my life and when I saw the St. Croix 2020 Legend Xtreme, I had to have one. I got the 7โ€™ Medium and paired it with a Daiwa Steez CT SV 700…… Iโ€™ve caught Everything under the sun with it and itโ€™s taken my fishing to a diff level. You feel everything under water!

  3. Thnx for hour review.
After fishing over 3 years with the Extreme spin, ive sold it lately and ordered me a brand new poison paired with a stradic FL3000. Ive had so much fun with the Extreme; it was great for all types of techniques but i just wanted a new Adventure. Im not really careful with my gear and I can tell you: the Extreme is defenitely hard to break. Tight lines

  4. Iโ€™m 22 and have probably spent maybe..4K on rods and reels these past two years. Having rods of high quality was on a bucket list of mine since a child. I donโ€™t fish maybe more than 3 days a week for a few hours because I still have to work 40 hour weeks but when I fish itโ€™s just a pleasure. Iโ€™m all about spending money on High quality gear that is multi function. That 6โ€™11 poison is exactly what Iโ€™m looking for in a jerk bait and lipless rod. Paired up with a lews custom lite and that will be an absolute ultra light combo well bellow an alderbaren and nrx.. Iโ€™m gunna get it tonight and hopefully get it in the coming months.

  5. If you had to get a replacement rod for an NRX 822 dsr, with a full set of guides, would it be a conquest, Steez AGS, or adrena? For casting, which of the previous 3 mentioned would you choose for a versatile moving bait rod? Your opinion is greatly appreciated!

  6. Have yโ€™all tried the Lews Pro TI yet, I love to hear what yโ€™all think about the Rod and Reel and how it compares to other rods and reels in the same price range.

  7. Haven't watched you guys since the virus shut down my city ( Philadelphia) not to mention loosing my job. couldn't watch my favorite thing to do in life. BASS FISHING. But feeling better today and its great to watch your vids again. Glad i bought all my equipment earlier in the winter. And yes i purchases the expride 610 for jerkbaits its awsome. Thanks again for the vids. Its a relief

  8. Heys guys looking to purchase a new drop shot rod, I hear Tim say he likes the Megabass Addermine but would like to try a G Loomis GLX 822S, I'm going to pair either rod with a Shimano Exsence 3000. Please give me your thoughts between both rods, pros, and cons, please. I can't have both, thank you again in advance. Scott

  9. Have you reviewed the Lewโ€™s ProTi yet? Iโ€™ve been a fan of their equipment since I got back into fishing a few years ago for their quality and value. Although the ProTi doesnโ€™t qualify as โ€œvalueโ€ at $350, Iโ€™m interested in hearing your take on it compared to other high end reels.

  10. Hey Matt: great video as always keep up the good work. What is it about sensitivity that affects the the price of rods so much more than other features? Thanks…๐ŸŽฃ๐Ÿ˜Ž๐Ÿ

  11. Hear me out, is it possible we could get a video maybe outlining a minimum number of rod/ reel combos that would cover most if not all techniques? I understand that having a technique specific setup is best but you guys also mention from time to time cross-overs ( "this rod/reel that I use for Y technique is also great for X technique" ). I think this would help alot of us in deciding on combo purchases to maximize our ability to effectively fish different ways.

  12. I just fished my first Poison Adrena, paired with the Metanium on two of the best lakes in North Carolina, Shearon Harris and Jordan lakes and I really am happy to have that set up. Iโ€™ve been considering the twin power since I watched a great video from Japan, and being the Shimano guy that I am , it helps hearing your review.. Happy Spring ๐Ÿ™Œ๐Ÿ€๐ŸŽฃ๐Ÿ€๐Ÿ˜œ Stay Safe & Be Well ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿ˜‡๐Ÿ™

  13. I wish you guys would review more than just Shimano. I get that you are fans of Shimano, but I would love to see the comparisons between Daiwa, Garcia, Cashion, etc. Love the channel, never been a fan of Shimano.
