Spring Bank Fishing for Largemouth Bass – Pond Fishing

It’s early spring and Bank fishing on small ponds for bass can be a blast. This was one of the most amazing little ponds that I’ve ever fished so I grabbed one rod and one reel and a few baits and went to work.

  1. Gr8 kid brother!! I have 5 Awesome children. They love the outdoors. Camping, Fishing 🎣 👌 We are on the Crappie in Morgantown WV Brother!! I think Smallies are on the menu this weekend!! big Big Smallmouths !! 7+ is not that uncommon 🤔🤯💯 I caught 2 last yr 7.4 & 7.7 My brother caught 4 I think 7+. But on My Good Word, Marc had one on that was double digit, I swear!! I seent it 🎣👀 We lucked upon a little 3 lake spot, that was the clean water lakes for the coal mines down below. Brother each lake is probably 6 or 8 acres. But they are 35 40ft deep at the Dam wall. Probably 100yrs old, I truly don't know. But they haven't been fished In like 30yrs. Until last yr that is!! I do know this, the WV state record Smallmouth lives there. 💯💯💯 The WV Smallmouth record is 9lb5oz 25in. Two different fish. I'm telling ya as my word, the bass my brother had on last fall was 11 pounds if it was an ounce!! Every bit 27in+. One of the biggest Smallies I have ever seen anywhere !! Social media included. If I would have been closer we probably could have landed it. I never seen a Bass go Airborne 12 or 13 times !! Tail walked 10ft one time. Craziest thing I ever seen. I was probably 40yrds away trying to get there and she Bulldogged straight down and snap. 😡 My dudes a pretty head strong man, but he had tears welling up. Well guess what.. This weekend we are taking a trip to the secret mine lakes. Gonna be nice all weekend. Thing is There's about a 99.5% chance, that the WV state record Crappie also resides there 😳 Record is 4lbs 19in. We caught 50+ last yr that was 3lb+ (didn't weigh um) but did measure them and several were 17/18in . We are very blessed too have the opportunity to fish these hidden gem lakes. Maybe the good lord willen and the damn creek don't rise. We will have a good time and possibly pull a Fat Sally in. Keep up the Gr8 content brother 👏 👌

  2. I'm a noob who barely catches anything, but I also like to pack light when I go out, mostly because I don't drive. I only own one rod (medium-ish spinning reel), but I pick like one or two techniques, pack enough bait and tackle to have a few options for each (and to fix break-offs), then a spool of leader line, some scissors, and some pliers. Everything I take usually fits in my pouch belt.

  3. I went fishing today and saw a bunch of fish schooling but they were so skiddish . Anytime we threw something in there they swam away and/or weren’t interested in our lure. We were using jigs, worms, chatterbaits, Ned rigs, and other soft plastics but they weren’t interested. What should we do?
