SMALLMOUTH BASS fishing on a clear water lake. Kayak bass fishing!

Five of the most interesting fish from this smallmouth bass kayak fishing day.

Testing out a prototype soft plastic I made. A yamatanuki profile with a beaver style open pour bait. Sinks fairly slow and has a random searching pattern as it falls. It seems to be a good lure for smallmouth bass with a really good hookup ratio. First and biggest fish of the day was caught on the only pink version I had with me. Last two fish were caught on a pink worm while revisiting the places I missed or observed fish while paddling back to the launch.

Last fish had a beautiful red dead eye that the video doesn’t do justice.

Gotta love catching smallies. They fight so hard!
