We call those rock bass where I'm from, not crappy and they're usually that size in channels and small lakes in Southern Ontario

If ya wanna catch sea bass use black minnow sand eal colour brilliant they are cast from shore let it hit the bottom and slowly reel as ur bouncing it along the bottom I cot monster bass this year with them very good
hey next time you get snagged try the bow trick. put tention in your line then and the bottom of the rod before the reel pull it back and let go like a bow n arrow
