The first thing that I do to locate summertime offshore bass is map study, I always try and find pieces of cover that are close to river channels and creek channels. Bass could be anywhere offshore but it seems as though they LIVE near these old creek channels.

Step 2 is the hard part, and that is graphing, Although this may seem difficult, it really just requires time. You can eliminate time by doing more map study before you get to the lake. One of the biggest parts of graphing is establishing what BASS look like on your graph. As Jacob Wheeler says, you are looking for turtles on a log.

Once you find the fish, its time to start catching them. I really like to employ a 3 pronged approach when it comes to selecting my lure. I like something fast (Crankbait), something slow (big worm or jig) and something Finesse (Drop shot). If they don’t bite one of those three things, then there is either 0 bass there or they are simply not active and you should come back some other time.

BassFishingHQ is dedicated to teaching people how to catch more and bigger bass. I will go over different bass fishing tips & techniques that will put more fish in the boat or on the shore. Whether you are just starting out or a seasoned tournament angler, my goal is to help you catch more bass.

  1. I have graphed channel edges, humps, points etc.. I have only come across schools of bass that look like that on the graph a few times.. honestly idk what I'm doing wrong. Idk if my downscan settings just aren't right, or if maybe i really ain't in the right areas.. I've scanned so many places where bass should be this time of year.. it's always the dead sea. Mainly on Chickamauga. Lol

  2. Great vid! Can you explain how your boat position is when setting up on a school stretched out on a contour line? Do you setup like a “T” just as an example that the fish are the top of the “T” in a line and your boat position is the base of it casting to them? Thanks!

  3. None of this crap is gonna matter shortly. You might be wishing you’d kept that info to self when everybody is fishing for actual fish. You know to eat. Because this hell hole country is about over folks Good times are gone
