tournament bass fishing is harming them more than anything else. Seems like every third person where I live is a "Tournament fisherman" and many even make jerseys so they look like what they see on tv. I love bass fishing, but the big egos tournament fishing brings spoils any fun you might have had. Too much drama and a-holes, is why I quit fishing tournaments years ago.
I agree
with you on this one!
Guido told me years ago, if you fish in the spring, you are fishing for spawning bass
Amen Brother, great insight. I’m always thinking of my kids, grandkids, and are next generation of bass anglers, we definitely need more conservation efforts for sustainable future fishing
I would be a fan of creeks of lakes during the spawn they do that on olkema lake in ok with really good success
Exactly right from a conservation point of view or even ethically there is no reason to fish for bedding fish ANY bedding fish!
No, never ! The world doesn't revolve around "tournament fishing" !!!!!!!
Yes.
I was confused seeing the title of this video. we all know your stance on bed fishing. This isn't an advanced topic. It's very basic
Dude there are ppl out there. That if they aren’t ruining something they aren’t happy.
Deer hunting season is open during their breeding season
Don't see why fishing should be any different.
If we just ban tournaments altogether than fishing for spawning bass wouldn't be an issue ..

Just say'n
as i get older i been forming this little guilt where im like "ugggh maybe i should just let them do their thing" however, i think people have been yanking bass out of beds for many moons and i think if people let the bass go right by the bed they were in and not hold them by the jaw and be as gentle as possible maybe that help but i think by nature we should let them just bed. great topic and vid.
Alright so you say you have done and continue to do it because of tournaments. That is why us who do t fish tournaments laugh at you. It is hypocritical. Why can’t we do it and you advise us non tournament fisherman to not do it? Non sense Randy. I still do not fish spawning fish but this video does not shine well on the Advanced channel. Love the channel.
New Hampshire — May 15 to June 15 Catch and release. Artificial lures only.
I'm fine with banning fishin on beds for bass. Plenty of saltwater species I like to catch have seasons to protect the spawn. No complaints from me. Also in the case of bass it seems like cheating to see them in their nest and keep casting until they bite to get your lure out of the bed.
It was courageous of you, Randy, to broach the topic. As a recreational angler, I go fishing to enjoy myself. Personally, I can not enjoy myself if I would pull a fish off a bed that is protecting eggs/fry. It only takes a few seconds for lurking predator fish to empty a bed.
I think the first step is an awareness campaign. Seasonally, signs could be placed at boat docks explaining the conservation issues and asking people to PLEASE refrain from fishing shallow waters. Maybe local experts could flag actual spawning windows on a website or stickers on the seasonal signs.
I agree with the comment above … let’s just go to catch pic and release like the kayak tournaments … id take it further.. implement year round not just during spawn months
Catch em, take a pic, put em back. Should be absolutely no weigh in tournaments around spawn. Messes up the whole reproduction cycle.Anybody that does should be ashamed. And tournaments are not your income. Most guys are in the hole in tournament winnings.
One season of bed fishing does more harm than 10 years of FFS fishing
Catching them and immediately release them back to the bed ? OK. Catching them, putting them a live well, and dragging them to a weigh in 8 hours later? Nah.
My state does not care about bass at all. Barely anyone fishes for them. It’s all walleye up north
