Should Bass Fans Be DISGUSTED by Forward Facing Sonar

Is forward facing sonar the death of professional bass fishing? Why do bass fishing anglers and fisherman hate forward facing sonar so much? Is there a happy medium to make fans like FFS and the organizations like it more in the future?

  1. I’m old school when it comes to fishing , I have been fishing since the late 1960. It’s like hunting you have a muzzle loader season, archery , pistol , rifle early & late season. But there all NOT at the same time. Because they make it FAIR to the hunters. With that being said I belive that FFS has done more harm then good to tournament fishing. I also belive when COVID hit that created a lot of new fisherman for a few years. With all the $$$$ that was giving by the Goverment to stay home. And now it seems like the tackle , reel , rod etc has gone into a decline ? Just my 2 Cent opion. I don’t think the Golden era of fishing with Tom Mann’s , Bill Dance , Roland Martin and so many others. Would have expected how things turned out in tournament fishing.

  2. Every major sport regulates equipment. Examples include tennis, which regulates racket size and strings, swimming suit material, golf clubs, and balls. Motorsports change yearly or even weekly, regulating engine size and aerodynamics. This is just a partial list.

  3. Hank Cherry said he used live scope as a tool to win his Classics. He mentioned in his podcast he used it to see stumps, brush and schools of baitfish, just didn't mention seeing any bass. Bait fish yes, .
Did you see Scott Martin open when on home lake using Pantonixs this year. He was pushing the whole setup for $1599.00, not as expensive as some keep pushing.

  4. Looks like you fell for the bait. Ffs is rage clickbait. Don’t think it will be long before you start with the Randy authoritarian censorship. It’s a hard drug to resist. Views($) vs integrity.

  5. The FFS discussion is always about Pro Tournaments. and one of the main subjects is fans watching events. There is a much bigger problem with TV coverage and times and channels they are on. It always seems to be different.

I love my FFS for fun fishing. But it has no place at the Pro and possibly even lower tournament levels. Anything besides a full ban is a waste. I don't think it will affect ad revenue just because Pros aren't using it. Could actually help sales.

  6. It really is simple. It’s TRASH to watch. It’s a shortcut to success! It’s undoubtedly unprofessional! The use of the tech dominates in a majority of tournaments. To me seeing the struggles in a tournament day is the reality to all tournament fishing! Knowing an angler is noodle dicking a minnow chasing a blip around in the abyss is freaking COMICAL! Or using a jerk bait and accidentally snagging the fish! To me the tech has allowed no namers to rise to the top with little TOP level experience! Now it may be banned in Pro-Am events. Who the heck would sign up as the amateur in a scopers boat.

  7. Not a fan of FFS at all. The question is as you said, what’s the solution. If a line is to be drawn in the sand, I think it needs to be soon! My reasoning is, waiting until electronics advance through the next stages; for example let’s just say headsets with vision optics. I think MOST of the Bass fishing public, professionals or not will be quite upset. The public image of professional tournament organizations will definitely be in the tank.

  8. Ive always despised watching smallmouth fishing, angler just staring down at the screen all day, but i did because it was just 3 or 4 tournaments throughout the season and i wanted to keep up with the anglers.
I stopped watching all tournaments 3 years ago, because that’s all they do now- even in FL and TX for Pete’s sake

  9. It should be banned. I don’t care about the lulls in the action. I would argue it would help the industry, because much of the non FFS tackle isn’t selling well, and would if FFS is illegal. I think GPS, down and side imaging should be the limit. Agreed 100%; going to 1 screen and transducer won’t change a thing

  10. Why does one camera man get to split screen graph and angler and another cameraman just shows back of head as described.

How come the piss poor camera technique never gets hit? It's bash the angler instead.

Viewers aren't learning!!!@ what part of the entry form says the angler must teach or give secrets away. Yes, for sponsor dollars it might be smarter.

Cheating? It's 100% gambling. It's pay to play.

$3000.00 is not expensive to have FFS JUST LIKE A PRO. Only 1 BASS pro didn't have FFS, John Cox.
