Usually the shad spawn occurs during the full moon in May and this year was no exception. I was fishing several days before the full moon and the shad had already began their heavy low light surface flickering. I used my favorite technique, the toad dangler, with two of my favorite frogs to catch some big bass. One tip on fishing the shad spawn is to key in on low light conditions because it will not occur when the sun is high.
