Secret Japan Bass Fishing Technique : New FREE RIG w/ Shin Fukae

MLF pro and Japanese angler Shinichi (Shin) Fukae joined The Bass University at the Bassmaster Classic to share a secret rig (which originated in South Korea) that hasn’t yet made it big in the states. You may have heard of the dropshot, the jika rig, the powershot, the tokyo rig and many others, which are Japanese bass rigs that catch bass consistently all over the world. You may not have heard of this secret new rig that Shin is talking about, it’s called the FREE RIG, and Fukae is here to tell you why it’s different than other bass fishing techniques that have been imported from Japan.

  1. If you slack line a Texas rig it will fall straight to. I like how these Japanese guys come over and " invent" new techniques im 45 and was fishing a dropshot for panfish when i was 5. Wacky rigging at 10, we just called it a center hook worm. O well

  2. This rig has been around since the 50's or 60's. Not new in any way, shape, or form. It's a tear drop, or a bass casting sinker. Those have been around for ever.

  3. That ring on the weight has far less friction than a bullet weight. It will fall much faster because less friction. It works. There’s a pretty big difference in that and Texas rig. You can work the bait straight down and it’s great for finicky clear water bass
