River smallmouth bass fishing and learning the jerkbait fishing tactics on the Umpqua River in Oregon.
This was my first time fishing the Umpqua River so I booked a fishing guide to float me down the river.

It was a little bit of a learning curve because these bass like the bait coming upstream without pauses, but I caught on quick.
My guide, Gary Lewis was a great guy and showed me the ropes.
It was a great day of catching smallmouth bass, beautiful scenery, and good conversation with Gary.
Keep your eye out for more videos of this trip. We guessed that I caught between 80 – 100 bass in a 5 hour float. Not too shabby!
The cool part was that we were on a family road trip, but there is a really cool Safari park where my family was able to spend the day in Roseburg, OR while I fished.
If you are in the area and just want to catch a lot of smallmouth bass, give Gary a call.
I brought my own BFS gear, but Gary has all the gear you need on the boat.
