River Fishing For Spring Smallies!

I take my kayak out on the river for some spring smallie action! It’s late April, right around the time of year I start finding river bass willing to bite. Let’s see if we can catch a few today!

  1. Just a dandy day to be on the water. The river conditions were spectacular and you found some willing participants. Had to spend the first half of the day laying down fresh mulch. This was a good choice to unwind for the end of the evening. Thanks Matt

  2. Due to the warm winter most weeds never 100% died off, this will be an interesting opener in MN. I was out a few weeks ago targeting crappies and was surprised at the weed edge still in the lake. Can't wait to go for the LM and pike !

  3. The fish wink at me when it’s that clear ❣️🤭😜🙏🏼😝😆🤪
Great blue heron flew by w/a 1 1/2lb bass, he was laughing, no wink🤣🙏🏼❣️Tight lines everyone, God bless❣️

  4. Thanks for another great fishing adventure. I fish in a northern Wisconsin Vilas County lake. And it's similar to a lake you fish in. There is large mouth bass, pan fish, pike and musky and crappie. But no small mouth sad face, but I manage fine with catching large mouth. I just recently ordered a few top lures and can't wait to try a whopper plopper 75. I normally do fine wacky rigging the large mouth. And I also recently broke down and spent 200 on a Daiwa set up. Good luck to you fishing this season

  5. Great video – Just thinkin about how those released smallies go back in the water and tell everyone about their alien abduction – must be something!

  6. For April 1st next year you should put out a video with music, flashy edits, and huge celebrations when you land a fish and say it’s your new style

  7. I think the rocks and concrete hold in heat from the sun rays and that's why the fish hold tight to it plus it's the perfect place to get out the current and ambush food. Great video any day the sun is out or the weather is nice is a great day to be on the water. For us diehard fisherman any day is a good day to be on the water my favorite time to drift the river for steelhead is in a blizzard because most of the time you have the river to yourself.

  8. One of the only fisherman I've been able to consistently watch without pause. I wish I had as much awesome places to go as you! Thanks for the great content!

  9. That second smallie you caught, they've been doing that to me all week. Just pick up my jig and slowly swim away with it. Odd behavior I don't see that often, let alone every bite I've had in a week.
