Spring Time river fishing is always interesting, The bass are usually getting active but in some rivers you come across amazing fish migrations. The smallmouth Buffalo were running up the river by the thousands. It was insane just watching them nonstop the whole river float.

Used to snag redhorse suckers by stringing 9 hooks along a stretch of heavy line and cast with a cane pole. Heavy sinker on the end. Bet you could do that for buffalo.
