  1. READ THIS BEFORE COMMENTING!!

YES, I have seen the video in question. FIRST, HE IDENTIFIED THE WRONG CENTER CONSOLE BOAT!!
Second – Clearly, some think that vision involves using your ears because you're believing what he says and not using your eyes. In that video you can clearly see steam coming off the water on the horizon (4min 26 sec). When moving at speed, on the water, it is akin to outrunning your headlights at night.

Third – In addition, these same people aren't listening to what I said. I never said I thought there was fog. I clearly said that a witness stated there was what HE CALLED "light fog" on the water. Steam, especially when on the horizon, can easily be interpreted as fog. Fun fact, when it's on the horizon, you can't see what's beyond it.

Lastly, it doesn't make any difference. One boat was underway and the other was not. End of discussion.

  2. As a kayaker, Im tired of reckless bass fisherman racing to the perfect spot. Always spoiling the quiet mornings ….
Y'all take the competition too seriously. So sad and predictable.

  3. I truly appreciate your factual content. I had to stop listening or reading anything that was being reported because, for the most part, nothing was being reported with any facts. You answered many questions. Location being number 1. I've been searching maps and trying to find anything that resembled what they were talking about being off Burr island. Calverts point makes all the sense as what was being reported, matched that location, but that was never reported. As i was searching, l kept going back to that exact spot. The bass boats were released from Burr island. My brother was Kelly Clark, and I knew Joey Broom. Two wonderful men. I haven't had very many hours of sleep since Wednesday. I don't expect to have many for a while. But this information will give me peace on location, and i can stop looking at maps all night since nothing was reported like this at all. Our family is completely devastated. Thank you for getting the facts out there.
May Lord bless you and keep you.

  4. I grew up around Gary he’s always been a super good guy, I hate it for all involved in this, every one in the county is praying for them. We are another fishing family that has know the Holcomb’s for along time.

  5. Modern bass boats are basically speed boats with casting decks, 250 hp engines are ridiculous and with great horse power requires great responsibility, accidents, whether caused by negligence or unavoidable circumstances are going to happen just as traffic mishaps, having a bank of monitors mounted on the windscreen area doesn't help, some can barely see over top of them.

  6. A lot of graphs don’t even allow some smaller folks to see over the top as well. So much of this will come out. I think in any accident when you hit someone who is parked your at fault. I’m a captain and that’s part of the rules and it does not matter where someone is I must watch out and even have eyes in the back of my head.

  7. It’s unfortunate people are passing judgement so quickly. It’s terrible on all accounts for all involved. Bad for the victims and I can’t imagine what the tournament angler feels know he struck and killed people. That said…the tournament angler struck a stationary boat. He alone was to be in control of his boat. Regardless of state etc he might face manslaugter or civil court and being sued by the family for damages. There was also a crash at Lake Norman via the NPFL, be interesting to see the fall out of all of this.

  8. Should bass tournament fishing take a page from NASCAR?

    Think restrictor plate racing.

We can still have competition with safety.

    Incorporate max horsepower and speed.

    More importantly, think saved lives.

  9. I’ve seen live video on another channel of a bass fisherman in the tournament he drove by the boat minutes before it was hit there was no fog he was going to fast looking at a graph period and should be charged with reckless endangerment

  10. Having lived half a mile from a major boat ramp as an avid fisherman I can say for the locals it sucks to be minding your business trying to enjoy a fishing trip, and then a tournament's worth of boats churns the lake to froth flying by you at close interval. Often clogging up the lake for regular fisherman, then clogging the boat ramps and parking lots. I personally am not a fan of tournament fishing, especially with folks like Scott Martin getting DQ'd for chatting politely with folks. I'm almost in favor of getting rid of tournaments, but I know I'm in the minority in that view… I'm also sadly of the opinion that incidents like this will happen again in the future.

  11. appreciate your report, although you toot your horn a bit and worried too much about other channels. People reported what they heard and were honest about not having all the facts. You have a channel too, and are reporting on it. Are you doing it for clicks? Well, technically. You all have channels. You all want us to click. You wanna get paid just like them. Anyway. I really did appreciate your NEW details. Praying for the families of everyone involved.

  12. Bass fishing is no more dangerous then many other types of fishing you can die surfcasting jumping jetty rocks you can die driving a bass boat you can die fishing in a kayak die wading its a risk you take engaging in the sport

  13. Remember what happened to those who cheated in the walleye tournament. They lost their license and got jail time. No one was killed. Now what should happen in this case??? I think his career is over.. What happens if your texting and driving and causing an accident that results in death? Jail time. Looking at a monitor and not paying attention is the same thing .

  14. I'm sure the truth will be figured out by the local police. If it turns out that the young man driving the bass boat was totally at fault and driving reckless by going at unsafe speeds he will be charged with reckless endangerment and manslaughter. It's time for speed limits on public lakes. It's now time to end professional bass fishing as we know it. To many lives have been lost needlessly. Professional bass fishing should be outlawed. It's a sin that pro bass fishing has been allowed to get this big. 😠

  15. It is time to start banning Bass tournaments. Bass fishermen have proven again and again that they are irresponsible and reckless. It is not just a few bad eggs. It is everyone in those tournaments. They drive at high speeds with no regard for anyone else. There is no reason to allow this behavior to continue. They are a danger to themselves and everyone else on the water.

The Bass fisherman responsible should be sued as should the Bass tournament organizer. They are all liable.

  16. From all the videos that have come out with different takes. Not sure which ones are true. All I can come up with is that the US Government needs to pass a law that states that speed boats are not allowed to go as fast they do today. Why because we have too many idiots out there that think they own the water and they dont have to be safe.
