I’m starting in on testing out North American, European, and Australian only (i.e. English language only) Wii games in alphabetical order like I’ve done for a handful of other systems. I’m not entirely sure if I’ll be doing the entire library or not as it is quite the task… we’ll see!

Showing off gameplay of Rapala Pro Bass Fishing for the Nintendo Wii using the Dolphin Wii / Gamecube emulator for Windows (version 5.0-15105). With Dolphin you can play the best Wii games, such as Mario Galaxy 1 and 2, The Legend of Zelda: The Twilight Princess, Metroid Prime 3: Corruption, Super Smash Bros. Brawl, Kirby’s Return to Dream Land, New Super Mario Bros. Wii, Wii Play, and Mario Kart Wii.

PC: i7-4770 CPU, 16GB DDR3 RAM, NVIDIA GTX 970 GPU

Options – Configuration – General:
[x] Enable Dual Core (speed)
[x] JIT Recompiler (recommended)

Options – Configuration – Audio:
[x] DSP HLE Emulation (fast) — Sometimes I’ll use the the DSP LLE Recompiler if I experience audio issues with HLE
Audio Backend: XAudio2

Options – Graphics Settings – General:
Backend: Direct3D 12 — I’ll sometimes test out OpenGL if D3D has issues (or if the Dolphin Wiki recommends it)
[x] V-Sync
[x] Synchronous or Synchronous (Ubershaders) — The ubershaders option provides for better performance on high end machines. I sometimes use it, but a lot of the time I’ll just stick with the default Synchronous option.

Options – Graphics Settings – Enhancements:
Internal Resolution: 4x Native
Anti-Aliasing: None
Anisotropic Filtering: 1x (unless otherwise noted on the Dolphin Wiki for a particular game)
[x] Scaled EFB Copy
[x] Force 24-Bit Color
[x] Disable Copy Filter
As for Per-Pixel Lighting, Force Texture Filtering, and Disable Fog, they might be needed on a game-by-game basis. Once again, check the Dolphin Wiki for each game.

Options – Graphics Settings – Hacks:
[x] Ignore Format Changes
[x] Store EFB Copies to Texture Only
Some games will need Skip EFB Access from CPU, but it can also break others. Check the Dolphin Wiki on a per-game basis.
Texture Cache: Fast — Some games need this set to Safe though
[x] Fast Depth Calculation
[x] Disable Bounding Box

  1. This fishing game works great via the Dolphin emulator on my PC, and it is actually pretty fun to play. The controls work great and the graphics are pretty nice for the Wii era as well (of course I am enhancing them with the Dolphin emulator's settings–see the description for that info). Thanks for watching, have a good day!
