  1. I need to learn to hit docks better. I am going to attack them hard when summer comes. Hit some areas with terrible shade and up my chances on the docks that are there.
I also find myself trying to look around you during the mid-day updates to see what is tied on and what you have the kayak. I thought it was a shad rap crankbait but that bill looks more like a roughed up deep diver.
Last thing, I am going to force myself to use the drop shot for 3 hours per trip starting tomorrow. I see too many people catching bass on them year round not to add that to my tool box. In my last tournament everyone I saw or talked to was throwing a drop shot in muddy water.
Congrats on the limit. Great start out of the gate in event 1.

  2. I feel you on your "throw a jig" resolution… I have zero confidence in one, but I know they're a valuable tool I have been neglecting. Here's to hoping we both give it some more time in the water this year… 2023 – the year of the jig!

  3. Way to battle and get your limit. Most fish in one video in a while now! And when it counts. Can't wait to see you get things figured out in next weeks video.

  4. In these kayak tournaments, does everyone have to meet up in morning & launch from same area? Or does everyone launch from wherever they want to? Reason I'm asking, I'm wondering if you see everyone's set up. Are alot of these tournament anglers running trolling motors & live scope on their kayaks?? I'm just curious…

  5. Good job on catching a limit for your first tournament. A good start! I don't have much confidence with a regular jig either. But I fish alot of swing head jigs & have ton confedence with them. I always just end up throwing a texas rigg instead of a jig. I know I need tie one on & keep throwing it myself. I'm not surprised you're catching them in shallow water. From what I've experienced sense i moved down here from Ohio for this time of year. I think they are trying to get warm in shallows when sun is high mid day to evening. Shallower water warms up faster. What I am thinking…

  6. Great start to the year Josh! Congrats on the limit. I was about to suggest that that was an unlucky hat after 3 shows 😂. Fantastic underwater footage on all those fish. They were showing off for the camera. Great job as always! Tight lines <><
