Puddingstone Bass Blew Up My Chatterbait! (4th of July Fishing)

I squeezed in a quick Fourth of July fishing session at Bonelli Lake from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM before heading out for family festivities.

I started the morning throwing a chatterbait, and on one of my first bites a bass absolutely destroyed the trailer, pulling the skirt completely down the bait. That told me the fish were interested, but something wasn’t quite right.

After the chatterbait bite slowed, I switched over to weightless finesse presentations and immediately started getting bites. The adjustment paid off with 2 bass landed, one lost, and the biggest weighing around 2 pounds.

Sometimes the fish tell you exactly what they want you just have to listen.
