MY PROFILE:

I started fishing when I was just a young kid and instantly fell in love with Bass Fishing. Started fishing tournaments when I was in high school and have been fishing them ever since. For years I fished every tournament I could enter sometimes fishing as many as 45 tournaments a year. I qualified for the Elites when I was 30 but didn’t have the sponsors or money to compete so I turned it down. Got sponsor support later and fished the FLW Tour for 2 years and having been fishing the Toyotas since 2006. I’ve won 5 Angler of the Year Titles becoming the only fishermen to have more than 3 AOYs in the Toyota series. Won numerous events along the way that has helped shape my way into working for Strike King as head of product innovation. Along the way, I picked up a camera and started filming my endeavors.  I  have now fallen in love with making videos about fishing and delivering it to you. Follow along the journey…it should be an honest and fun ride!

  1. Catch and instant release tournaments are not a big problem. Most people keep fish. Ffs will deplete every last fishery if nothing is done about it. Herbicides and pesticides has had a huge impact on freshwater species and now people can target every last fish. Give me the ability to use night vision and I would literally kill every lsst thing on a property given enough time.

  2. Or here’s an idea….stop using it. Learn to actually fish. Thank goodness big name anglers are finally calling to ban FFS. The momentum is growing and soon it will be punishable the same as poaching, because that’s what it is, unsportsmanlike unfair advantage.

  3. Not necessarily challenging your assertions, but I do think that fish mortality due to being caught is a real thing. A video on the topic by Science of the Strike gave me insight on fish handling, and the negative impact of leaving the fish out of the water for various periods of time. I just think that should be a consideration.

Also, concerning your statement about 100 bass cult on a worm in 100 bass cult using live scope, is certainly accurate. But I do think you left out the frequency of catching 100 bass is much higher using technology such as livescope than simply fishing traditionally.

  4. you are 100% correct, i will be the first to admit i am learning stuff everyday on this and i still realize i have a long way to go. And the comment on the fact that you have 11 pounds and winners 25 lbs and you hear excuses, is so true with 90% of competitors that just out right got spanked. They can not admit to themselves or anyone else for that matter that they just flat out missed the train and couldn't figure out what they wanted on that particular day. Great video Todd keep up the good and straight forward honest informative information.

  5. My biggest problem is separating trash fish from bass! Alot of carp and catfish. And they will all be grouped up together because you will see a carp jump in front of the boat and catch a bass in the same spot. Its frustrating for sure!

  6. Todd, you are spot on. Over the last couple of years I have went thru the exact process you describe in this video. It takes a lot of hours on the water with scope to figure it out. I feel like I'm pretty good now after many many hours and usually catch a bunch fish every trip out now. I'm now working on catching the really big fish that count in tournaments.

  7. How much of not catching them as well as others is just plain and simple not being around the right kind of fish? I think I just don't get around enough of the right ones consistently because I'm just looking for fish and not the right fish. I caught probably 30 fish out of piles the other day and had 6# on 3 fish. the winners caught them doing the same thing, but they had the right fish located in the right piles. Maybe or maybe not

  8. Totally was my comment from last video. Thanks for the info. That makes a lot of sense. There were a TON of carp and I did eventually catch one. Almost like you know what your talking about. 😂👍

  9. This is me 100%. I’m starting to put the orange blobs together. It’s interesting process. I got eagle 9 last year. Mostly just used it to pinpoint structure. I’ve using it more in open water post spawn. It’s either figure out live scope. Or fish the same laydowns that everyone else does. It’s the new skill gap.

  10. Well Todd thank you for being honest and telling us the truth. Finally someone who tells us the reality of things. If this hurts your feelings then you’re not wanting to know what it’s going to take to really win. I would rather hear this than someone try and tell me I need another minnow to catch fish with.

  11. So I guess this old man needs to get better at FFS if I ever want to catch fish again. 😀 The time needed is depressing, I'm 72 and don't have that many fishing hours left. 🤥
