What a treat getting to bass fish gin clear water on Oregon’s beautiful coast with the sound of the ocean’s crashing waves on the beach. I’ve never fished in Florida but seen the clearwater and sandy bottoms in some old Outdoor Life magazines when I was a kid so on this trip, I imagined I was in Florida fishing for 10-pound bass on a lake full of gators… Oregon is truly a magical place to fish for bass in a kayak. Minnesota has nothing on Oregon’s hundreds of lakes, ponds, and potholes that may or may not hold large populations of catchable bass, but the fun thing is the discovery of each water body and getting to figure it all out on your own. I’ll be fishing as many of these lakes as I possibly can this spring and summer and each one will have its own unique characteristics. To top it all off I set out to catch a striped bass for dinner and make just the right cast to get one in the net and into the frying pan back at home. Tight Lines.
