What happens when you trade today’s high performance rigs for a blast from the past?

Chris Zaldain and Drew Gill ditch their Nitro Z21 XL’s and step into a 1985 original Bass Tracker for the ultimate old school fishing challenge. No forward facing sonar. No modern tech. Just vintage rods, reels, and a tackle box full of classic lures that are older than the anglers themselves.

With only two hours on the clock, it turns into a battle of skill, adaptability, and a whole lot of trial and error. From pistol grip rods and mysterious crankbaits to spoons and topwater legends, every cast is a throwback to the roots of bass fishing.

The conditions are right, the fish are active, and the competition heats up quickly. But fishing the old way comes with its own challenges, missed hooksets, and figuring out how anglers used to get it done without today’s advantages.

This is more than a challenge, it’s a reminder of where bass fishing started and how far it’s come.
