Northern Pike Fishing in Upstate New York/ Topwater/ Swim Bait

On the water at about 6 am this morning on the 26th of June. Kayak fishing for Bass and Northern Pike with the trusty Whopper Plopper perch pattern. Not a single bass to be had out there for some reason, but the Pike were crushing the Plopper. No matter if it was shallow weed beds or out in 20 feet of water. The Pike were super active on the surface and although I didn’t net every single one, still had a lot of action. Finally as the morning went on toward the 8 o’ clock hour, switched to the Underspin Swim Bait with a 3.8″ Keitech. Slow rolling it along only managed to come up with another small Pike. Shook my plastic off and broke off the underspin blade. The Pike somehow always give me grief in some sort of fashion. Fun day of Summer fishing on the gravel pit in Port Crane. It will most likely be the last video I shoot there as they have put a fence up around the entrance and Posted signs everywhere. Naturally, I jumped the fence with my gear as I was not turning around once I was up that early. At least we managed to get on some good Topwater action!
