Come along as we go bass fishing in an aluminum boat with no electronics! Forget all the hype, let’s prove you can still catch fish without all the bells and whistles! Jigs, crankbaits, and blade baits are all on the menu today and despite rain and snow, we catch a bunch of fish!
Modern electronics are incredibly useful tools, but they’re not a requirement for a fun day on the water. Listen closely as Matt explains his decision making throughout the day, the clues he uses to locate fish, and how he builds a pattern. Even as conditions go from bad to worse, he’s able to adapt, and keep catching fishing.
Below you’ll find links to the exact baits Matt used through the day. We’ve also included the rod and reel combos he landed his fish with. All the links go directly to Tackle Warehouse where you can see detailed photos and descriptions of each item.

#February #bassfishing #fishingtips
Great video man. My pop spent a pretty penny on a live scope a few years ago but when we go crappie fishing we hardly use it because we’re just having a ton of fun and enjoying the time we get to spend together. That’s what this whole thing is all about and I think a lot of guys could benefit from remembering that. (And we still catch some slabs!)
This is so refreshing to see!
With all the talk about forward-facing sonar, it’s awesome to watch a breakdown of how to read the water and find fish the old-school way. That jig and blade bait combo is deadly in these cold temps, too! I just covered how this week’s weather shifts are setting up the pre-spawn bite across the country—curious to see if the patterns you found match up with my forecast!
imagine a no electronics tournament and the fun of watching pros beat each other with these limits
Study sun angle, topographic map of lake, warm rocks and wood, AND GO!
thats real bass fishing… just you and your knowledge VS the fish… the way it should be….
Slow rolling a spinnerbait works in cold conditions, I'll also use a rattle trap, crankbait. I don't have any electronics. I will fish blow downs , points
I wish people would stop calling it "old school bass fishing" folks that IS BASS FISHING!!!
Matt, love this video. This is so encouraging.
“Old school” bass fishing is how I fish bc I’m poor
Nothing like it. Man Im hours away from blasting off in the bassmaster open at Sam Rayburn. Running a 2004 Stratos with a 20 plus year old lowrance graph
awesome video brother
You guys have any thoughts on Geecrack? I haven’t seen any videos. Not something you ever use or just don’t have experience with it?
What Jon boat is that? Make and model?
Matt, you're an inspiration to me and I'm sure Randy Blaukat would be in total agreement LOL!
You should do more videos like this. I feel this is how most or your subscribers fish, including me! Ive a 12ft
fishing kayak. No electronics just many casts and experience, I love to see it.
Went out today here in East TN. Been raining for two days and the temp is in the low 40s, got off work early so I grabbed the rain gear and hit the lake. Not a single soul on the water, except me. Some of us are just crazy for these fish, I just moved here snd I wrangled my first two Tennessee bass!
phenomenal stuff man, i appreciate you doing this
Thanks for doing this bare bones vid! It was a lot more interesting and informative watching you figure it out with actual intelligence, not AI. Every time you go sans electronics your credibility skyrockets! Too many anglers just have to have immediate gratification, but you showed fish can be found and caught in the worst conditions with a little effort. Very rewarding way to go! Keep it up!
That was one damn fine video Matt !! One any fisherman can wrap his or her head around, posses the question, is it called fishing or catching ?
I LOVE THIS! Sub'd!
you didn't haven't strip the boat , you could've simply kept all the electronics turned off & fished..
What a great message at the end. Always a pleasure Matt
More vids like this please! I have electronics but I only use it for depth, temp, and sometimes structure. I just beat the banks mostly form my Jon boat or yak.
Good to see you going old school!
Real fishing how refreshing, the whole FFS thing has turned off alot of average Bass fisherman….
Yes!! Thanks Matt loved the video as always please do more of these uncut style videos if you and when you can!
"the temperature is crashing"
Water temperature? (Sticks hands in the water)…cold. LMBO!!!! I love it.
You found them and caught them with only your experience and fishing savvy. Awesome stuff.
Seems like a blade bait would work all year round. Why is it considered such a cold water bait?
Good video bud !
The most pure form of fishing
. Thanks for a great video!
Matt In those conditions I live and die by the bladebait
This is great, thank you!
Would love to see a poll of your viewers to see how many of us fish like this without electronics. I'm guessing there's a lot of us!
Yall are always reading my mind !! I was gonna ask you guys if you can make more "No Electronics " videos, thanks a million !! Tac Bass is the best everrrrr

Great video Matt , it sure is fun to just go out and fish.
Thank you for making awesome fishing content in this cold weather!!!
No electronics! Can afford it? Yes, but I enjoy just going out, casting and see what happens. Figuring it out is the way to go for me.
Way fishing should be and not looking at a screen targeting just big bass.
My favorite way to fish. So much more rewarding when you put in the work to find them and see what they are hitting.
Excellent video , I will watch this many times.
I’d love to see a tournament series like this. 2D sonar, no spot lock, no power poles. I don’t doubt today’s pros are great and talented anglers, but they definitely get a lot of help the old schoolers didn’t get.
Thank you I learned a lot. Really appreciate you guys.
I am officially "Old School"… oh well. Cool vid – thanks!
This is the reason why so many of us follow #TaticalBassin, any type of fishing in any condition y'all get on them always appreciate the content

.
You know it's cold when Matt puts on shoes
I actually catch my biggest bass during the cold days . No electronics and on bank.
Why the french pearl 110 ,clowds ,water color or both.
Cool to see a video the average guy can relate to. Great episode with realistic expectations for most guys.
These videos are awesome. This is the only way I can afford to fish. Maybe I'll buy something basic this year. Please keep these videos up. Maybe one for each season would be cool.
Personally, I think higher level "Professional" bass tournaments should ban all electronics other than basic 2D sonar.
