It is the full summer, and while I set out to fish some sloppy swamp with some weedless topwater baits, looking for a big fat bass I encounter something a bit larger. Just a year prior in the same spot I had a large snapping turtle put a quick end to my day of fishing, this time it was an aggressive female black bear. A few days later this entire park was closed down because she again made a rush at someone walking their dog. My guess is that just out of sight were some cubs.

I’ve never encountered a bear and I have no desire to do so. I was pretty paranoid when we was in Montana tent camping. I didn’t sleep very good. Then we never even saw one. Well until we left the Tetons in Wyoming. Then we spotted a grizzly in the woods along the highway. I got the best pics I could. I was just glad we didn’t camp there 😂

That was incredible that you caught that bear on camera. Usually they don't bother you, but this one seemed aggressive. I've seen a few bears from my boat, and many crossing the road in front of my truck.
We had a bear about 10 feet from our tent one time while camping at Lake Tahoe, crazy thing is my dog Bogey was in the tent with us and she never barked or anything 😂, such a good guard dog!
Yes! Bear encounter. The lady with the dog didn't seem too concerned.
Nice catches, the bear I never seen any but always wondered about them in the woods or when I was fishing. probably smelt all the beauty fish you were catching and came down to get some!
I’m like you and love having bears around here. They are such cool creatures watch and hunt!! The coldest I have ever been to one was I probably could have touched it with my rifle barrel deer hunting and it never even knew I was there ground hunting..lol..It really gets your heart pumping having them that close. Great Fishing and that was a huge Pickerel!!

Great way to get the adrenaline pumping when you're fishing. A charging bear takes it to a different place. Yikes. Glad you had a good day fishing regardless.

That bear must have a cub or two close by, she was probably protecting her babies. Cool footage, supposed to be good luck to see a bear. Either that or she smelled the fish on your beard.
I've ran into a few bears in my time fishing in east TN. I've always been on a boat though so I wasn't real concerned about them. You need some bear spray. Definitely not an animal to be messing around with. Good stuff though. Some nice fishin and nature at its best! Tight Line Dug!

Glad you survived! That was definitely a scary encounter. When I was young, my mom and my sister and I were riding our bikes in Minnesota. We rounded a bend, and to our left there was a commotion which turned out to be two black bear cubs in the woods next to the road. All of a sudden we heard this growl from our right and there was the mother bear in a tree. We were in between the mom and her cubs, and I remember my mom just yelling "ride ride!" We were all able to get away and the bear didn't chase, but it was a very sketchy moment that I'll always remember.
