We hit the water after dark with Sixgill Angler Zack Hines to chase big bass using finesse tactics and forward-facing sonar.

For this trip, Zack was fishing Sixgill Myakka and Cypress spinning rods in Medium and Medium Light, paired with Aether 2000 spinning reels equipped with the shallow spool.

Zack’s setup:
• Sixgill Myakka & Cypress M / ML spinning rods
• Sixgill Aether 2000 spinning reels
• Shallow spool
• 20 lb braid
• 14 lb fluorocarbon leader
• 3/16 oz jig head
• 6″ and 7″ minnows

The goal was simple: find big fish, stay on them, and see what our lightweight spinning gear could handle.

We only put two bass in the boat, but both gave the gear a workout and reminded us why finesse fishing big bass is so much fun.

Light line. Lightweight gear. Big fish.
