We’re back on Lake Berryessa for a quick evening fishing trip. Fresh off the jerkbait and fluke video from a few days ago, we’re back to see how many bass we can catch! Matt hopes to pick up where he left off so he’s brought a variety of jerkbaits and topwater options. Of course nothing goes to plan but he adapts and has an awesome evening fishing with finesse swimbaits!
Spring bass fishing is all about adapting to changing conditions. One day its beautiful, the next day its snowing. One day you’ve got the lake to yourself, the next day there are boats everywhere. If you find that your fish have shut down, look no further than a tiny swimbait like the 2.8 keitech to save the day! These little baits are incredibly adaptable and get bit by everything that swims. Trout, crappie, and even trophy bass, have no problem gulping them!
Hopefully you enjoyed today’s video as much as we did. We were met with challenging conditions but were able to adapt and overcome. Below is a breakdown of the exact equipment we were using and a few bonus baits that are worth trying if your fish are already conditioned to the Keitech. All of these baits go directly to Tackle Warehouse where you can see close up photos and detailed descriptions of each item.

That is a MONSTER crappie!!! Omg!!!
Thanks for the fishing info Mobee, fishing geek
Matt,
Thanks so very much for sharing all your vast talent on your videos.I have fished for 50 years and trust me….I am still
learning something every day thanks in part to you and Tim .I am a student that loves to keep an open mind,so
I can forword to my grandkids. Keep up the good work
I wonder how those crappie are doing now Matt I gotta go hit Berryessa
Come up to Mid Missouri and show me how to fish on Lake Ozark or Osage River!
Keitech is always the better bait. They use a different mix of salt in the top vs bottom half of the bait to create ballast. This is something Strike King, RIPOFF Squad and others don't do.
What?! Can't hear you! 👎
where is the video description ?
Thank you!
Lake Berryessa ! Love that place
Sometimes I have a blast grabbing my spinning combo with 8 to 10 pound test and a little 3 inch easy shiner or spark shad on one of the tactical finesse heads and just playing those fish slaying a bunch of 1 to 3 pound smallies or large mouth it’s absolutely a blast
4:38 Whoa Matt! What ever part of that fish that’s half spot bass, toss that half on the bank!
Thanks for sharing
This combo is killer
Caught my PB on one of those little tiny guppy heads
Can anybody explain the toothpick trick ,how to keep your swim base on better?
Is he swimming this jig or jigging it on the bottom?
Do you ever get skunked? I have been the last 3 outings. Mostly on Taylorsville lake in Kentucky. Any pointers?
Could I throw these on a 7/1 medium rod that I use for drop shot or should I really go with a medium light if I’m gonna use both techniques? Thanks for the video. Stay safe!
What do you think of the keitech 6.8 fat swing impact. I just bought some and want your thoughts
been fishing for years always trying to glean more ways to catch fish on the hardest lake to catch fish in missouri mark twain lake
Love these guys vids. These guys and others really get me pumped up to fish and have inspired me to do my own shows. Remarkable content and a varied library of different techniques. Tacticalbassin can you guys can check out my vids also? Casting w/ Brian. https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCnsfNYiWF0eAXek3rHMx67Q
Mat I know you have done videos on this before . But I have not had a lot of luck using a braid to leader set up. No matter what knot I’ve used. Casting the knot through the guides just sucks. Especially when throwing light baits. Do you have any tips?
Wandering if in any of your videos you touch on ledgehead swimbait hooks
Which Tackle Warehouse exclusive color do you like more; TW Ghost Shad or TW Pro Blue ?
my favorite small swimbait is the Zman slim swim 3 inch and it crushes fish!
Went out 3 days ago in Kentucky with a friend and put 30 smallmouth in the boat with these swims baits. Best day of my life lol
You talk about the horseshoe shape. Can you do a video on reading contour maps and how to find nice spots, where to anchor the boat and where to cast?
love this video! its so true the lighter spinning gear is just so fun. ive been doing a lot of bank fishing lately and all I need is my 6'6" medium st. croix, a small keitech and a small jerkbait. the weather has been terrible up here in MA and those 2 baits save me from getting skunked ever time.
Anyone know of some good jigs to use with the 2.8 fat keitech??
I've always fished with ultra light gear as my primary fun Everytime I go. My favorite right now is a 6'8" med light Zodias with a 1000 stradics. Run the keitech or my favorite 4"lizard and kill em.
A GENERAL, UNRELATED COMMENT. As a 75+, fishing since age of 5, just want to tell you 2 guys, Thanks. Lots of good youtuber fish shows, some good folks. BUT you guys are hands down my favorite. You have a good vibe, enjoyable, I always stay engaged. My granddaddy always used the old cowboy term, " he'd do to ride the river with". He would have liked you boys. A tip of my stetson from Northeast Texas.
People charge for this info .it's called a guide.and they don't even tell their secrets…. TMfrickingI
That crappie looked huge!
That's a bunch of crap .they still have us shut down 3 /5 hrs away in socal.and you guys ain't missed a day .wtf is going on.i don't see how it's ok to fish were your at only a handful of hours away while everywhere else in Cali is shut down .and how about stop giving all the secrets away and maybe show people how to tie knots.and wrap their own rods .the basics .just because they get in the ring they think they can box and your giving away everything that took us 10/20 years to perfect and your giving it away like it's going to help any one of us big bass fisherman in the long run ..maybe a video on boat safety anything but the secrets that we hold so dearly to ourselves that your giving away like it's going out of style .I haven't came this far for someone to give away every fricken secret that we know for a few more viewers on your channel .because your going to run out of stuff to give away soon and then no one will need to watch you educational videos ..I like you guys but man really.givile it away give it away give it away now .blood sex sugar magic .
Sorry manaybe I'm.just pissed off that you guys are still fishing .maybe I'm.pissed because I'm.not or maybe I'm.pissed because like I said your giving away secrets and techniques that taken years to perfect and give it away for a few more views.im.sure you don't understand what I'm trying to say if not sorry sometimes I just get in bad mood and take it out on innocent people .but it's both and I'm.sorry .don't take it the wrong way but once you give all that you have these people just move on to the next guy shelling out info like endless supply..and good video love you guys .
Berryessa! I've spent countless hours out there on my 550 hahaha
