Every summer, one of the most overlooked feeding windows in bass fishing happens right in front of us: the mayfly hatch.

For a short period of time, mayflies cover the surface, bluegill move in to feed, and bass set up nearby to take advantage of the entire food chain. The problem is most anglers either miss it, ignore it, or don’t realize how good the bite can actually be.

In this video, I break down what the mayfly hatch is, why it happens, when to look for it, and how bass use it to feed. I’ll also explain where I look for mayflies, how bluegill position around the hatch, and how to target the bass that are sitting nearby waiting for an easy meal.
