  1. I think there are instances, but it is just about the available light for most of the year.
The major exemption: Baitfish spawning windows!

But we're human. We look for patterns. So If we bust fish late spring/early summer during full moon every year around the moon we want to ascribe it to the whole year.

Or ya know the moon pops up over the horizon and is low angle in the sky (feeding advantage) so we assume its about the moon when its really just about them using available shadows to ambush prey, like always.

I also assume the new moon bite boila down to advantages. Having light THAT low.. the size of the lateral line and eyeball is going to come into play. If there is a window where they can feel and see better than their prey.. its going to be a feeding window.

Best bass phrase I ever heard keeps raising it's head… bass are muggers. They utilize times and situations when they have a major advantage to actively feed. Spend the time when there is a low advantage resting unless a really convenient meal pops up.

  2. I use to fish the rip rap banks ant night during the full moon because of the crawdad spawn and the bluegill beds during the morning and day time because of the bluegill spawn. During the spring and summer months. Never had any luck at night during the new moon. I had a old timer tell me fullmoon fish at night and new moon fish at day.

  3. I have found that my catch ratio drops off during a full moon cycle. I don't think moonlight has anything do with it since the tides still flow regardless wether it is cloudy or not. I know it affects me. If I have a sleepless night, the next morning I check the calendar. And yes, a full moon. I fish regardless of the moon phase but will plan my chores around the full moon. NO chores, I go fishing. Lefty Kreh said that time spent fishing is not counted against your time on earth. I'am eighty and plan on living a long time. And fishing is how I plan to extend that time.

  4. The only thing I've noticed is that a more full moon makes the lure more noticeable, so I'll use a more natural color instead of a night color. I've also found that putting a topwater right in the moonbeam is a good way to get it noticed. Also looks SICK to get a blowup in the full moonlight lol.
