MLF Bass Pro Tour Anglers Are Fishing WHERE Next Season

Where are the Major League Fishing Bass Pro Tour anglers and fisherman who did not re-qualify in 2024 fishing next season in 2025? The BPT shrunk their field in 2025 to 66 anglers. This left 14 anglers outside the cut line who had to decide in 2025 what organization. Will those anglers fish the Bassmaster Opens, MLF Invitationals, National Professional Fishing League or someplace else.

  1. When its all said and done every pro fisherman will wish they were on the bpt . Thats where the real money is and thats where the highest paid fisherman will be fishing . The cut to 50 is hard but in the long run its the best thing for the best 50 if you were bottom 30 you werent competitive im sorry . I personally think mlf has been doing great with the decescions they have made the last year .

  2. While I think the Opens are going to be super competitive and hard for these guys to advance I understand why they turned down the Invitationals. BPT is playing favorites in my opinion with their selection process and I feel the rookies got a raw deal. The others are probably just tired of being jerked around by MLF with the constant changes. I’ll be watching the Opens more in ‘25. I actually joined B.A.S.S. again for the first time since the 70’s.

  3. New intro. Slightly different outro. Nice Steve. Hitting the bank tomorrow morning not sure where. So with two divisions, it makes it tougher to get back to the Elites. Going to be fun to watch for sure. Thanks.

  4. Think most of the guys that didn’t requalify just didnt have that competitive edge past several years.
Thats not to say any of them aren’t hammers. Just.. luck wasn’t on their side.
Plus the reduced field will definitely improve and increase the overall production of the MLF series. 2025 gonna be a barn burner for sure!
Lastly, i wish those heading for the opens luck… but success is questionable at best. Opens split into two divisions, and a new “ feeder” league coming. Its an uphill battle.

  5. Im afraid the guys who qualify for the Elites next year may feel.shighted by bass by the payouts. I also think the elites will be cut to a 50 boat field in 2026.

  6. Awesome video. Absolutely love your channel. You're channel is growing quick and much deserved!!! 👊

I have been waiting for Matt Stefan to fish the opens. It will be really interesting to see how he stacks up against a while new level of competition. I can see him winning a AOY in the Elites.

  7. Looks like a pattern. To me it looks like MLF keeps stumbling over their feet and BASS is trying to make things more attractive, maybe not perfect but more attractive. For me personally I don't like what MLF did with the rookies, giving them only a year. It just seems like every time you turn around MLF says "hey guess what?" and someone is getting the shaft and it isn't MLF. At this point you have to ask yourself everyday with MLF, whats next?

  8. Hey Steve. I find it funny that no anglers you communicated with are going to the NPFL. That's not to say that they are not going to fish an event or two.
Now I'm kind on MLF'S side on this one. They needed to shorten the tournament days. I do feel bad for the rookies that fell into this kind of blind sided.
I have a question. Do the Rookies in Bassmasters elites get a pass the first year if they finish down at the bottom of the pack?
I think after a few years after the dust settles on the BPT. You may even see a small migration of anglers trying to get into the MLF, BPT if Bassmaster keeps the payout schedule as is.
Now, the Classic will always be the OG. But will it be the best paying champion? MLF has Redcrest, Heavy hitters, and now the team series all at no entry fees. If I was in the fishing game to make money, you know where I would be fishing.
We know a lot of the guys going to the opens will be struggling to beat the new crop of anglers and may be stuck in opens purgatory. I wish them all the best.
    Well, tight lines all.
    Regards, Steven.

  9. Hard to say what is the right move. On one hand it may be a sponsorship decision, it could be like you said that some are not happy. I know one this as for winnings the invitationals have more money and they have a championship but some of these guys may get more sponsorship dollars going over to BASS. Some are playing a big gamble by going to the opens just because it's the opens and is one of the hardest places to get through but not only that if you do make it to the elites do you know that they are keeping their field where it is. It would really suck to get in the Elites only to find out they about to chop their numbers and you may be going through all this again. Kind of a rough time to be a pro fisherman right now.

  10. To be honest.. this is one move that I believe the BPT made that was accurate. The amount of anglers you can support is based on two things.. 1) Entry fee's; and 2) Sponsorship support. It also makes the business model more sustainable. I have no idea how long the BPT will be around, but this move makes smart business sense. I can only imagine that there are many anglers that would have liked to have seen the future sooner. But, this sport is a gamble and you are not an employee.
