Mini Underspin + Early Spring Tricks For Big Bass!

Get ready for a 31+ lb limit of bass with a spinning rod! Come along for an awesome day on the water! Matt is searching for prespawn bass that are moving into the shallows but what he finds is staging fish that are ready to eat! This is an action packed day full of big fish on light tackle!

Typically when we catch 30+ lbs we do it with a swimbait. Today all but 2 of the fish were caught on spinning rods with a mini underspin and a mid strolling bait. These fish were fired up and ready to feed but it took 3 hours for Matt to figure it out. Reading the conditions and being willing to adapt are critical elements of success on the water!

Below you’ll find links to the exact baits and gear Matt used throughout the day. We’ve included the exact colors and sizes for the baits, along with the exact rod and reel combos. All the links go directly to Tackle Warehouse where you can see detailed photos and descriptions of each item.

  1. Love the video. Ps- can we get pictures of the types of areas you were fishing. Like with the mapping. Not the specific location you were fishing but pictures of contours maybe through lake master or navionics. Would love to see the areas yo target.

  2. Great video, I think this video shows just how powerful of a tool FFS sonar is. I think being able to find fish shallow and use your instincts is great. Yet when the plan doesn’t work being able to switch over to your FFS and catch them, is a deadly combination.

  3. I love these videos. Perfect timing with the morning coffee. That looked to be one hell of a day on the water! I'm sure there was even more caught between the breaks too!

  4. I went out yesterday at 5:45 and same deal.. Cold air temps, 52-53° water temps. I put 5 in the boat before 6:30 on a Spro Little John in red craw. Rest of the day was slow but that early morning bite was awesome

  5. Hey guys, it would be awesome if you could do a video feed out of your live system like they're starting to do on BASS and MLF when you use your Live imaging. It would be very beneficial to see what you guys see on live when mid-strolling or whatever. Just a thought… Thanks for all the great videos!
