MICRO SWIMBAIT Fishing for Deep Winter BASS

This is one cool swimbait technique for targeting winter bass in cold water. Using a bass head jig with a light wire hook and screw lock you tread on 3.5″ or less swimbaits. In the video we caught most of our bass in deep clear water using the Scottsboro Tackle hand poured lure in a Dirty Hitch color pattern. It’s important to use a little lighter fishing rod for this technique as well – I like a 7′ M bait caster or a 7′ M spinning rod if I’m using a jig 1/4 oz or less. If you have super cold water temperatures or just ultra pressured fishing and need a finesse tactic that covers water, this technique might be the ticket.

What swimbaits, jigs, and fishing rods were we using?

  1. great video , i'm going out tomorrow with weedless swimbait and underspin swimbait and in different sizes to try to conquer some cold water bass starting with the smallest no underspin and go from there i'm going to try the chatterbait also , keep up the good work love the vids

  2. Dude, I love your videos. You are a bad ass and keep it straight real. As a co-angler some of your tips help me get ahead of the game and most boaters lol.
Would it be possible to actually make vid of what if โ€œyouโ€ were a co-angler. What would you do, and how to out-fish the competition (boaters)? Or at least get better?

  3. This guy doesn't know wtf he's talking about. Just repeating the same tips you've seen or been told smh. And you don't want to "complain or whine about how hard it is to make these videos" but you did. And then the next video you beg for likes to create ad revenue to buy baits because your A-rig is $37 lmao.. Unsubscribed!!

  4. Is the first spot right across from the boat ramp in lick creek? I live about 15 minutes from smith and Iโ€™m there every weekend if Iโ€™m not fishing a tournament somewhere else (I was there today). Recently I have been cranking them pretty shallow and itโ€™s been doing good. With the cold fronts coming in I think itโ€™s pushed the bass down deeper so what your doing would be a great option. Great vid!

  5. Wao Mike long time follower, the channel is getting better and better, the way this channel is evolving is amaizing, did you move from FL??? Anyway love love to see Bog back on action… Keep the great work, see ya bro…

  6. Hey Mikey: Great video. Great subject. I like these keel-weighted swimbait hooks (1/8oz 3/0) with my 3.8" swimbaits from Rhythmwave.

They're weedless and great for bottom dragging. Also like new Berkley open hooks (1/8oz 2/0 chartreuse) for slightly above bottom.

(I fish for river smallmouth mostly in less than 5ft depths; that's why 1/8oz)

  7. You should try the 5" spark shad. I've stuck some really good quality fish on that bait. I fish a ton of smaller size swimbaits on the river for smallies and they will absolutely chew a 2.8 keitech on that guppy head. Would love to see you catch some smallmouth bro! Great content as always.

  8. I have noticed that when i cast(spinning gear),just cast don't try to cast far. Just a easy cast it doesn't spin. It flies pretty far for me. Yes it will spin but if pay attention to the way you cast it won't spin. O ya when you cast … Cast at like 1 o' clock. That angle of the rod seems to help also

  9. Love your videos! Im looking at trying a new braided line for finesse fishing up North, mostly grass lakes for bass. Whats your favorite 10-15 pound braid for spinning gear?

  10. just started watching fishing video again after like a year of losing interest in fishing. dude your channel is so good man. i can't believe how many ppl out there just click baiting so hard now a days. "HUGE SWIMBAITS FOR MASSIVE BASS!" and they don't even catch a single fish. i honestly can't believe the amount of fishing videos there are now a days where the person goes fishing and catches nothing. every video i've watched of yours has been awesome and super direct. keep up the good work

  11. The baits you show are in mine box too, fish on N. Pikes with those and big Perch
50 plus cm 6 ponders no Micro. lol
Nice Video Micky ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿด๐Ÿ‘ and the Bog

  12. Much better pure bass fishing videos then those googan squad guys. Keep it up. Also you know costa will send you all new frames if you contact there warranty department. I had a pair for 7 years and they replaced mine.

  13. great video and I love fishing small swimbaits for big bass I actually caught my largest bass last year 6.8 pounder on a 3 ibch Zman slim swim swim bait love it!

  14. Hey Mikey! Yes absolutely love the finesse and micro (as you call it) swim baits. Ditto everything youโ€™re saying bro. Once you get above 1/4, better to go with a casting reel and maybe 10 pound floro. Also totally agree with the slightly green back on the swim bait. That reminds me, I need to get back out there and hit those ditches. God bless

  15. I'm still relatively new to your Channel but I just wanted you to know that you are a badass dude and I dig all the content on your channel. Thanks for all the time and effort editing these videos and would be badass to go fishing with you one day keep it up man!!

  16. Yes I love the finesse swim bait. I throw it on the dirty jigs guppy head. Going to get that Scottsboro ball head and give it a try. Thanks ๐Ÿ‘Š๐Ÿป
