I went fishing the other day and found a giant mega school of bass out deep. When I started to catch them the whole bottom lit up. Check out the behavior of this school and how studying these bass will help you catch more bass.

MY PROFILE:

I started fishing when I was just a young kid and instantly fell in love with Bass Fishing. Started fishing tournaments when I was in high school and have been fishing them ever since. For years I fished every tournament I could enter sometimes fishing as many as 45 tournaments a year. I qualified for the Elites when I was 30 but didn’t have the sponsors or money to compete so I turned it down. Got sponsor support later and fished the FLW Tour for 2 years and having been fishing the Toyotas since 2006. I’ve won 5 Angler of the Year Titles becoming the only fishermen to have more than 3 AOYs in the Toyota series. Won numerous events along the way that has helped shape my way into working for Strike King as head of product innovation. Along the way, I picked up a camera and started filming my endeavors.  I  have now fallen in love with making videos about fishing and delivering it to you. Follow along the journey…it should be an honest and fun ride!

  1. Todd I really appreciate the effort and information you share. The amount of fish that would follow the caught fish up and then how they went down and disappeared back into the bottom was eye opening. I am still learning how to best use my lvs32 forward sonar. Only getting to fish a couple of days a month it is taking me a minute to learn. I hope you have a successful 2025 sir.

  2. Great content. Even watching how the school reacts when releasing the one you just caught is educational. Next time, release one at the back of your boat… you’d be surprised how many out of the school follow it as it swims. I believe they follow it to eat the regurgitated food the fish sometimes spit out.

  3. Couple things: how could any fisherman not enjoy this real time education. One of your best. The other, any reason you didn't draw your distance in from 100ft in order to kinda zoom in? Do you think any bigs there? Would you move on if in a tournament? I would of thought all those were whitebass on gville or chic.

  4. That’s crazy! Just when we say “man look at those other 3-4 following the one I caught” in plain sight, not knowing there’s 10 +more behind them we didn’t see before ffs. I could scope/graph for hrs just watching them. Cool stuff.

  5. I fish with a 7-8 in. leader on my dropshot. I can see the worm above the bottom on LS.
What amazes me is fish still blend in with the bottom. I cant see them when they are laying on the bottom.
