My Profile:
http://www.mattstefanfishing.com/
I was born and raised in Chicago, but after working 12 years in the financial Industry regulating the futures and options markets at the CME/CBOT I decided to pursue my passion fishing professional tournaments and left my full time corporate job. At that point, I moved to Junction City, WI with my wife Sara and two boys Hank and Duke. I’ve been fishing professionally since 2011 and full-time since 2015. I’ve qualified for seven MLF Championships and won over a half million in tournament winnings at the professional level.
Love this video!!! Thanks for always providing great info!!!
Great advice!!! Thanks Matt!
For inexperienced anglers I would have to say Weedless Ned rig and crank baits. Had my neighbor and his two teenage boys on the boat last evening for 3 hours and we killed it. Both those techniques and we caught 27 fish.
My lake is almost always chocolate milk and windy. Will these work in these conditions? I always hear recommendations to go bigger and louder.
Thx, Matt! Do you drop shot in rivers?
Well I’m pretty old school been fishing since the late 1960s as a kid. In my opion you must be good at top water fishing .. And I’ll agree with soft plastics Texas Rig or Free Rig etc. After that crank baits , jerk baits , spin baits , jigging it’s all important . Frist would be top water and 2nd would be soft plastics. 3rd would be a jump ball. 🤔 Getting a tad off topic is casting . You really need to be proficient . I’m going into my 60s and my fishing lives and dies but the top water bite .
A swim jig is easy to fish not a big learning curve and it generates tons of bites. I definitely has become my confidence bait!
Mines a fluke
Around here they start the kids off with Spinner baits and Beetle Spins, I like your choices better.
Nice Video!
What about replacing the drop shot with the Tokyo Rig?
You could also give a 2 year old a wacky rig senko <And they will catch them ! Our club is BANNING senkos this year ! Just to separate the men from the boys ***😮😮😮 It will be interesting! We average 23 boats a week! Peace <<>😊😊
I would have included spinnerbaits as well.
JMHO
Wacky rig from the boat or the bank. It's simple and effective. My kids love them.
Off subject but do you put 2 split rings between the hook and the weight on your swivel head jigs?
My go-to is a Carolina Rig with a Brush Hog or 4" Senko style stick bait for dragging, then a buzz bait for the top.
I think a swimjig could definitely be the alternative to the swimbait if desired and probably is my goto honestly where that bait tends to be more weedless, but yet still in many ways can provide the same look pending on how you outfit it, and really more of that immediate feel of the bite, similarly to the swimbait.
I caught a walleye on the 4inch zman hellraizer this morning at 4:30 am it attacked it like a bass
Great topic, Matt.
I'd have to throw in a weedless ned rig.
I'd have to recommend topwater. Especially a chuck n wind type of retrieve/lure. Such as a whopper popper type or a lure that creates a ton of action. The blow up on a topwater is what got me hooked on bass fishing.
Not sure what is about Texas rigged speed worms (usually unpegged) but they definitely generate strikes, especially in clearer water.
As the video began, my very 1st thought was a wacky rig, which is what I turn to on a slow day. 2nd was a small paddle tail, which is my go to search bait.
Spinnerbaits… My daughter loves them. Also beetlespinners.
I would think out of all these, if someone would put in the time it would be a SENKO
TEXAS, WACKY, NEKO, NED, WEIGHTED OR WEIGHTLESS. The Senko catches everything everything everything
One of mine is a 4” sinko on a split shot. It even brought me a third place in a tournament in the calif delta on a slack tide. Great advice. Thank You
