The shaky head often gets stuck with one type of retrieve. This bass catching setup has the potential to catch fish all year. Watch these two retrieves underwater and see how the shaky head can be even more versatile of a presentation.

Wow that slow pop…pop looks absolutely amazing. How could anyone know how much difference a slight change in cadence makes without seeing it for themselves. So cool Steve!
…That thing looked alive.
Another great video with the footage your fans are looking for, this is why we cook with you Steve!
I have another suggestion for a side by side
Comparing the fall rate of a jig with the only variable being the line size. Also, compare the same exact crankbait/jerkbait on different line sizes. I get the sense the industry might not like the results.
I hear so many people use words like "fall drastically slower" or "use lighter line to get your jerkbait a couple feet deeper," but I'm not convinced Steve. I bet it makes a marginal difference when all other things are equal.
I'm not sold that we need 8#,10#,12#,15#,17#,20#, line for the same technique just to present it slightly different, although they'd have you think it would be a big difference.
If you prove me wrong, I've got some shopping to do I guess
These side by side underwater videos are great… keep em coming, im learning so much… thank you
Love the shakey head ! Gonna have to put the double pop retrieve to thye test. Thanks.
What are these. Plastic’s. Standing up like. That

What weight do you use the most?
That double pop looks deadly for flounder. I haven't tried shaky heads in the saltwater but maybe I should. I have a few kinds of swinging hooks on heads and it seems like they're fairly similar. A video with those swinging head/hooks in the water could be useful if you haven't done one.
As usual another excellent tip on lure presentation. Thanks Steve.
Thank you, Sir, for always doing an awesome job. Fuel for thought. Do a video showing how rod length and action affect the lure action.
So how long do you pause after you "pop" it? A couple of seconds? Longer? And if the tail isn't standing straight up, would using one of those air injectors work to get the tail to stand? Just curious.
I use the Buckeye spot remover style shakey heads. I never really shake it though. I give it tiny hops as I bring it back to me usually.
Hey, Steve, great to see you. Love a shake head. Be safe and have a great weekend
I'm pretty new to bass fishing so this question might sound ignorant. Has anyone ever set up a drop shot rig a couple feet above a shakey head?
Thanks Steve,on a calm day no current fishing 10' what weight would you recommend?
Steve great tips love the split side by side comparison. I went out fishing at a local pond today just to see what was going on. Just grabbed two rods. I had a small spinnerbait and a swim jig and I thought to myself hmmm. I should have brought a shaky head.
Cool channel
Good presentation and professionally done.
Good info Steve, thank you.
Love the under water stuff.
I recommend using a Bass Pro floating worm (black). It stands up nice and high & is more durable than elaztech imo. Great video. Love the detailed explanations in every video!!
Excellent timing Steve! This weekend, I'm heading up to my favorite lake (highland reservoir) which has very, very clear water. And I always have a shaky head tied up when I fish there. The big spotties are probably still down kind of deep and this has been a great way to entice a bite. I have to admit to using a constant hand twitch on the steady drag technique…mainly because of the name of the lure…so I'm going to try that double pop to see if that might do a little better. I'll let you know if it does. Thanks as always!!!
Here’s an experiment for “someday.” For a rocky bottom, compare the snag rate retrieving away from shore to that retrieving toward shore.
How about water temp for this technique? I was advised that plastics are not good under 50 degs
Thank you Steve your videos are so helpful
"Dont expose too much of the hook it looks unnatural. Actually expose as much of it as possible for better hookset. Anyways good video, love the underwater footage.
First comment! Thanks for the video Steve.
