  1. End live well tournaments period. Way to harmful. Switch to a different method like take a photo of the fish on a certified tournament scale and do that instead of cramming 20 plus pounds of smallmouth in a little box.

  2. To me I’ve noticed a serious decline in the average size and in overall numbers of smallmouth bass. Especially in the smaller fisheries. Many factors go into the decline. Keeping smallmouth needs to stop. Catch and release only is the only hope we have to make sport fishing a sustainable thing. A smallie takes 10-15 years to reach full size so keeping them is incredibly harmful to their populations. Secondly the practice of live well tournaments needs to end. Stuffing 20 plus pounds into a cramped little box, driving them around a lake for hours, parading the fish around the weigh in, and then releasing that fish sometimes mile’s away from their original refuge is a practice that kills so many nice fish. The amount of dead floating smallmouth I saw on lake ST Clair 2 days after a 200 boat tournament confirmed this for me. END LIVE WELL TOURNAMENTS, And make the bass season catch and release only. That’s our only hope

  3. I think FFS is an amazing teaching tool. It allows newer anglers to study structure and cover to see how fish set up on it. It also allows you to see how deep the lures are actually traveling in the water. Used correctly I think it’s great. With all that being said I believe it has no business in tournaments. Nothing is more boring than watching a supposed pro angler playing video games.

  4. Why go all the way up there for small mouth
I go to a lake on the tn,KY line amd don't need my livescope and catch 17 lb in smallmouth in 2 fish
And yes they go. After the biggest like in any tournament

  5. Wow. Kind of like me listening to your videos telling us how to catch a bass. We can embrace technology or…just make everyone fish from the bank. I guess then we will be complaing about the guy who brings his hip waders.

  6. Tech is here to stay, you either learn to use it or get left behind. When GPS first came out for fish finders it was HUGE! All the ledge fishing (especially on KY lake) changed forever. Then it was side scan with Humminbird, same thing you were able to see things on the sonar that wasn't possible without going over the spot and scaring off the fish. And now with FFS and live scope it has changed again. You can now find the fish and UNDERSTAND what they are doing or reacting to. THIS is what makes YOU and anyone else a better fisherman or woman. You still have to make the fish bite what you are throwing to them and that is where the fun comes from. Now you don't have to waste time on the water wondering where are they at or where did they go. Some anglers only have a few to little hours to go do what they love and would much rather spend it catching instead of hoping to catch some fish. Not everyone can have the lifestyle that fishes as much as you or can spend a lifetime to fish tournaments like you do to waste a day off of work from their NORMAL life, on the water to catch a fish. As a kid one of the things I wished for was a fish finder that would 'SHOW' you where to fish or where the fish are, big leaps and bounds from flashers back in the day or paper graph fish finders. The days are here and you don't have to use it, no one is forcing it upon you to have one. 10 years from now the finders will probably be able to tell you if the fish are bass, carp, drum, catfish etc. So get with times or get left behind. With all this being said I still like your channel and content, keep up the good work Randy.

  7. I was watching a tournament recently and they put a closeup of the Live Scope on the screen. I called my wife's attention to it and explained to her what was on it. The fish and the angler dangling the bait right in front of the fish. She immediately said, "that's not fishing"! nough said!! When the elite series is on and I see nothing but the back of the anglers head staring at the Live Scope, I turned the channel. How boring!!!! If Ray Scott knew what was going on with bass fishing as far as this goes, he would be turning over in his grave!!!!

  8. Randy, you are so right! It has become a video fishing game! Again bass fishing as I grew up learning and did is being lost!
So sad that electronic gadgets that cost way to much ch has interfered with a wonderful sport!
It’s not even fun to watch livestreaming anymore!
Golden rule is still in effect! He who has the gold does the ruling!

  9. Randy couldn’t agree more, but now there’s too much money involved, if arcade fishing on a screen is how you do it now wow that’s on MLF/bass in the world of money money money. I don’t know how to use electronics for bass fishing yet but I’ve been in two tournaments, the mighty helix five on the bow/ipolot, I had a blast! If I spend another 4500 I will become a better tournament fisherman. You and Johnny maybe start a new league from what I see there’s plenty of people around who want to fish, tournament fishing is like NASCAR you just Gotta have the money

  10. Here's a problem I have. I know someone personally who will keep and eat healthy large fish sm and lm. Technology will get to a peak and fall off. Drawing comparison to ffs or not is irrelevant. We are still trying to catch 5 fish correct? Whether or not you use electronics or not. Hell I want nascar to go back to stock car but it's not gonna happen so I don't watch it. I'm not gonna complain about it. Same with ffs. You made your point, things will not change that guy will still eat big fish and I move on. I understand your point about getting back to basics, but I'm not gonna shit in an outhouse if the technology allows me to have a nice toilet. 😊

  11. I have heard of crappie fishermen limiting out 3 times in one day with FFS It’s going to be hard for that to hold up as well. I think someone should have a tournament series without any electronics other than GPS and see if their ratings would be higher!

  12. So quit. If youre that miserable, stop and go get a regular job and stop complaining. And you're welcome. FFS is here to stay. We will miss you. Good luck on your next venture and professional Utube career.

  13. I live in Michigan and the fact that FFS ruined most of the big lakes sucks, the only way i can fish for smallmouth is when i fish on small inland lakes, and when i fish on the big lakes i do not catch them on a crankbait like i used to.

  14. IN agreement with you on this one and definitely think there needs to be a stop to the waypoint temptations. No waypoints period. If they are allowed there is always temptation and polygraph with questions about what you did and didn't use electronically . If you're gonna get it right your gonna have take away basically everything but a depth finder. I'm not a fan of anyone using them type of electronics , especially tourney anglers.

  15. I always said catching them is the easy part. Finding them is the hard part. But now 6 Computers on your Boat makes finding them a joke. I will not acknowledge todays Tournament winners. It's actually a disgrace.

  16. I'm thankful for FFS with the thousands of kids that it has gotten them off the video games by introducing them to the wonderful outdoors. Give me a choice between a world of video games or FFS, I firmly believe FFS is the better of the two… Anything that encourages our next generation of youth to enjoy the great outdoors is a WIN/WIN… Look how YouTube changed fishing with Googans and millions of kids that took up fishing… I try to find the good & positive in social media & technology…

  17. I haven't fished tourneys since the 1992 Eastern Divisional, due to a career move. But I won several local tourneys in Chaumont Bay and Oneida Lake with either 1/2 oz spinnerbaits with a #6 double-cupped Colorado or a 1/2 oz Cordell Spot speed reeked near the surface over submerged humps or rock flats. Of course, all of our boats were under 18 ft with 150's, but there's nothing like the thrill of almost getting your rod yanked out of your hand.

  18. Loved fishing smallmouth in November at Table Rock. Im in southern Oklahoma now where guides are catching multiple limits and more of everything that swims. No skill needed, just big freezers .. Sad to see, fishing won’t last but there might be a sale on boats from all this mess.

  19. They should ban that stuff from tournaments. They've taken away the skill and the knowledge from the fishermen and replaced it with sonar. Anybody could catch a fish with using livescope. Same as cheating imo.

  20. I just came home from clayton ny and missisiqoi bay vt fun fishing, you are 100% right. such a shame….. I've been making the trip to Champlain for 22 yrs. The #'s just aren't there anymore, sucks!

  21. I'm so thankful that I'm not a tournament angler. Randy seems so annoyed, depressed, and angry about everything. I just go out there and fish and have fun. I throw whatever I want, and I'm just as happy when my buddies out fish me. Tournament life sounds miserable.

  22. I admire you're determination Randy, but FFS ain't going anywhere as long as big money pays the major tournament entities. The only hope in getting any measures taken is for the states to take their own action.

  23. Agree completely, been a critic for years. Now what are we going to do about it? Every year that goes by we are doing more and more damage to our extremely valuable breeding stock.
We need to organize. I would think the Department of Natural in most states would help. I think we can push the manufactures with a lawsuit. Fish don’t belong to only rich people

  24. I think all the free easy information has put more pressure on all the species. Made everyone better at the game. More than anything I would rather see the fish get treated better and more research done to better the fish population.I know people that have scopes and dont even use them to the potential. Thanks Randy

  25. As usual, Randy fails to identify the real problem – tournament fishing in general. Even if FFS was not a thing, you tournament idiots are all a plague on our fisheries.

  26. Well I could not Agree more. We just bought a cabin on Mille Lacs & I fished for smallmouth in other areas & just killed them… Now on Mille Lacs; I see these huge Smallies cbeing caught, & I can't catch a damn thing. Thanks FFS Producers, what the hell is next! I will not get it, Period

  27. I wonder if back in the day when Flashers, 2D sonar came out. Did the tournament fishermen feel the same way towards forward facing in that wanting it banned? I know we have more social media today. Yes i am against forward facing in all tournaments. Just curious.

  28. Live Scope is not in any way different from spotlighting deer. Yeah, you still have to make them bite, just as you still have to shoot spotlighted deer. Poor argument.

  29. I believe those guys that use forward facing sonar don’t have enough confidence in themselves and they have to compensate somehow for their tiny little wewe’s !!😂

  30. Hey Randy, I hope you we’re watching the MLF tournament today where Randall Tharp just went on a rant about LS and FFS! He said he would rather be at the house playing video games lol, I couldn’t help but think of you🎣
